I agree that Neeld isn't the only one responsible for this mess. Melbourne have been rubbish for years and the leadership at the club has not been the best; as you say they condoned tanking and the culture of the club is a shambles. People just go through the motions.
However it seems that he, and the FD he's helped shape, have failed to perform their roles. Problems have existed at MFC from before Neeld came on board, but he has failed to really help fix them (tough ask, I know) and has arguably made things much worse. The players do need to shoulder some of the blame, but there's plenty to go around for everyone; we are that poo!

I also agree with Yoda that Ox should, if he cares so much about the club, step in and help out where possible. Making comments like this just stir trouble in the media and cause more divisions in the club. If he wants change maybe he could put his hand up and take on some role at the club to help instigate it; preferably in a more permanent role than Garry Lyon (although him actually doing something was a nice sentiment).

I have a lot of time for him, he is my favourite player to put on the jumper since I've been watching. However, I don't think he's too smart and personally I don't want him in any position of influence at the club. Forwards coach or something but nothing beyond that. In a broader sense I think we need less old Melbourne people in powerful positions generally. Also, his comment about the QB game make zero sense to me and I'm not exactly a Neeld defender these days.

i wouldn't want to be the ox when he roles into the club next time, especially when he has a minor role helping out which is around neeldy.

You reckon the Ox is afraid of Neeld?

OK, so the Ox made a silly comment about losing against C'wood. But none of us have done anything for MFC that gives us the right to bag the crap out him or call him whatever we can come up with. He's done more for this club than most of us put together so yes criticise what he said, but if we turn on someone like him - then are we staunch or just kidding ourselves.

Garbage! The Ox was a damn good player and we all appreciate the effort he put in on the field. HOWEVER, that most certainly does not mean he has done more for the club than the thousands of supporters who have given every year of their life and more dollars than they could afford to spare to the MFC. In supporting the club through all of the tough times, those people have done a damn sight more than the Ox and the'yre the ones who have earned the right to voice their opinions and have them heard. He's been repaid a thousand times over in admiration and adulation but when it comes to voicing an opinion he gets no special privileges just because he pulled on the guernsey. That just makes him luckier than the rest of us but it absolutely does not make him a more loyal, more valuable or more essential servant of the club.

I believe Neelds future lies with Sylvia Frawley and watts. We cannot afford to lose any of these guys regardless of their ability. If we delist players then so be it but we cannot have players leave. We have to be retain the very little face we have.
Regards to Ox, I am disappointed as I don't think he should be putting this crap in the papers. Behind close doors fine, but not in the media.
Do you guys actually think Ox would be disappointed if we managed to win on Monday? I think the story is rubbish.

Don't have a problem with what you've just said - and opinions are fine. But how many of us would have the guts to call him, for example, a d***head to his face?

Under no circumstances would I want to see us get caned just so the club's hand is forced. For me, any loss is a bad loss & I can't fathom anyone, the Ox included, who claims to support the club wanting us to get humiliated. There's a review going on & there will be feedback & recommendations and then changes made - things might not be moving fast enough to satisfy some people and likely Neeld and/or Craig will eventually be given the arse most likely but there's no excuse to dig in the boot while the club is down by one of its own. In contrast to the Ox, take Robbie Flower's reaction to our woes. I'm too lazy to dig it up but he had some decent words to say in support of the club after we lost to the Bombers by 25 goals.

The problem I have with this comment is that if we lose by a hundred its not going to make any difference than if we lost by 30. If Neeld wants to be coaching Melbourne next year he needs to win games, hoping we lose by a tonne so the club gets him out the door faster is pointless. He's gone anyway, the only thing that can save him is actually winning four or five more games by seasons end.

5 games minimum... I see 7 'winnable' games after the bye, if he can't get 5 of those games then he should be asked to leave.
No more speculation about his future no more ambiguity... At least 5 games or there's the door

You expect melbourne to win 5 (or 7) of the next 11 games after winning 1 of the first 10 ? ....

A very successful/job saving second half of the year will see melbourne defeat 1/2 non-expansion teams is more realistic. Reality is GWS is the ONLY winnable game in that second half of the year. We're still at least 40 points worse off than any non expansion side.

Stop saying expansion sides, the Gold Coast are a dangerous team. You can narrow it down to GWS, and even they'll be in the distance after another pre-season.

It's not what is expected it's what is required. If Neeld want's to keep his job he needs to prove himself. He's done everything to prove the opposite so far.

Mate, I would hope that ALL of us had more class than to do something like that.

I don't exactly know what defines an expansion side - having said that I think its fair to still classify a team less then 3 years old. As dangerous as they are (no arguments there) just that.

Last post for me on this as its getting off thread topic, but given the injury status of some of our core group and not being able to field a full strength team all year. I think the board will be one/two losses more lenient - a failed year for me is anything less than 4 wins. It's not what I agree with but I think it's what's expected after forgiving his error of the off season recruiting..

It's already a failed year, 7 losses over 10 goals out of our first 10 games is pathetic. Neeld hasn't even lived up to the lowly promises he gave us at the start of the year. "We will remain competitive in games for longer" and "We will win more games than we did last year" which is looking increasingly unlikely.

Yeh and that's why a good competitive effort has been inexplicably redefined to include games that we lose by 95 points.

I don't expect the Dees to win 7 games, i don't expect them to win one game... However if Neeld wants to keep his job next year he needs to be given an clear goal... 5 games in the run home which includes games against other struggling clubs such as GWS, Brisbane, St Kilda, WB and GC (who are provably the best of the listed teams) SHOULD be achievable but not too easy... We all want definate inprovements by years end and not just "yay we only lost by 95 points"

I don't think Schwarz is doing you guys any favors. In fact I have been really irritated by his comments in the media, they just don't seem to be constructive and he doesn't seem to be providing ( or capable of providing) any alternatives or help. I understand the argument that he is expressing the feelings of the fans, but is that necessary? Everyone knows what Melbourne supporters are going through, (and for people from clubs like my own) know what it feels like. Melbourne would be best served if he didn't comment at all. Anyway thats my two cents.

Mate, he weighs about 110 kgs. It's not class that would stop some knowitall fan calling him an arseh*le.
