The 27th version of this annual match between arch rivals Oxford and Cambridge Universities will take place in London tonight and will be telecast live on Sky.

I'll def get PNG vs France later on in the year if canal+ puts it on, which I'm %99 sure they will.:D

Just before it's played, I'll make a thread, if anyone wants the game, pm me and we'll sort it out.

I'm also hoping about the USA vs one of the pacific teams for the WC qualifier.

I watched Wigan vs catalans last week, and I'm downloading Catalans vs Leeds now.;)

Both these uni's have been playing league since the 70's, they have recently toured to the USA, France, Lebanon and I recall Cambridge playing a curtain raiser to Australia v Rest in 1988.

Both have pretty good websites which can give you the history of both also the players.

Honestly the whole event isnt worth getting excited about .The standard isnt very good and shouldnt really be on telly but for some reason Sky have been showing it fior the last couple of years .

Oxford spent the most of the match defending and won 20-14

I suppose you're right, all they are are a bunch of toffy nosed w@nkers pretending to play the Greatest game, better off sending back south and telling them to get stuffed, what would they know about running Rugby?

Running Rugby to them would be a sexually transmitted disease. :D

You piss in my sock, i'll piss in yours

Without knowing I think generally its more the northern inmates of those unis that play the game .

Trust me there was very little running rugby in the bits I saw

What did you expect? SL standard? These are two university teams, amateurs.
I suggest you go to the website of these teams and you will see most of the players are southerners.

Who's getting excited just stating a fact about the growth of the game. The sport was discriminated against long enough in uni's now within the space of 25 or so years it's a part of the two most famous universities in the world and being shown on TV. That's pretty good growth, don't you agree. Also shows how far the game can go if it is supported and not hindered by union zealots and their parochial media.

Precisely.

The game has grown wonderfully in the South after nearly a century or so of discrimination :thumbsu:.

Back when I was at the LSE, Rugby outside of Fulham/Crusaders was virtually non-existant. Now it's the second biggest football code in some parts of South London!

How showing crap RL on tv enhances the sport I do not know If a first time viewer was to see it what would they think..
This is nothing to do with real growth that is done by all the sports liason officers around the country who are doing a wonderful job .
I relly feel that since RU has gone pro they have lost a lot of their hate especially since Jason Robison did his buisness .

On the day England WON the RU WC the presenter of the SL game that night started the show by saying "on the day England LOST the WC at that other sport welcome ".

I love RL by the way

If you love rugby league I suggest you look at it a little more positively. The glass is half full. You are sounding like an AFL, RU, media clown highlighting some insignificant negative.

Tell me is it bad that the ABC show crap standard club union, that no-one is interested in?

Why Im not worried what other people think .RLis great but if other people prefer something else fair enough .Im not into insecurities .

I wouldnt have a clue what ABC show but you would imagine terrestrial commercial telly would be committing suicide showing poor product
