If patrick Bowden realisses his potential and possible standard of ability if he steps up and decided to play some good football then we find ourselves A CHF! ROCKET stated that if patrick bowden hits form then we have a CHF for the next 8 - 10 years which is true.

I do believe that Bowden has ability inside that has yet to be released, this far all he has shown is laziness and lack of willingness to try harder and to push for a senior selection.

He has shown that he does have potential., he can take a grab and isnt so slow. Last year i think came very close to our leading goal kicker.

For us to have structure within 2005, Patrick Bowden needs to improve.!

Yeah if we can get the best out of Pat will be great for him and us

That is his problem and always will be. Lets stop wasting time with this heartless footballer. How many chances do we as supporters give him. I strongly believe enough is enough.

Pefectly put; no heart. In my opinion, The Bulldogs should pride themselves around The Bulldogs of old. That meant we had heart and plenty of it. We fought for every ball. Scraggers - basically. Bowden is none of that and in this day and age you can't afford to keep players like him.

If he shows no improvment in these weeks that are left, he has to be traded.

Must be in the family, Joel looked that way for a while aswell.

Would gladly pick him up at Richmond. We pressed for him last year.

I would gladly offer him too the tigers. Maybe a change a club would do him a world of good and turn him into a good player. However i do not see this happening why his is on our list. If you can turn him around good luck to you. How about Sam Power and Daniel Bandy too?

Hopefully much like his brother he can turn things around for us. Joel improved once he was given a chance in defence and I've long believed that Pat needs an opportunity in defence to see if we can he can become a solid contributor for us.

I don't think there's any doubt that the guy has potential, because he's shown it. But the thing is - he doesn't attack the ball with the type of tenacity that wins games of football. Until he turns that around, I don't think he'll get anywhere. But - a shift to the backline should be tried.

And if we don't get the best out of Pat (like we are currently) we get Patrick Wiggins.

Agree has the ability needs hardness and desperation at the footy and could become player this is his last chance hope he grabs it

Does anyone remember Peter Foster when we first picked him up?

Fossie came to us as a CHF and failed miserably.

Timid, soft, hesitant.

Switched to CHB he became a star.
It's worth a shot, as he lacks the presence required to contest up forward. As for trading him to Richmond, they clearly rate him highly as last year they offered us their pick 35, and in return they get Bowden and our pick 37! Wow, let's give up 4 years investment in a KPP player to got up 2 places in the 3rd round of the draft. Wallet has more front than Myer. Not sure what was more insulting, that trade scenario or Sheedy offering us their high 20's pick and the about-to-be-delisted Darren Walsh for 6 time B&F winner Westy. Everyone must have thought Rohde and Newport were still in charge.

'The Bulldogs of Old' have not won a flag in 50 years. (2 life sentences and I have not even killed anyone!)

Have not played off in a GF in the last 40+ years.

Our past really sucks. We have had some great players but the ultimate prize has not been obtained. While we have been 'scraggin' what have we achieved? Lowest membership base and a club that has been almost gone for the last 30 years.

The future of footy is skill, pace & height. Bowden has all of these. We just have to unlock the beast!

Bowden from Richmond took a few years to become consistant. We must Make our Bowden work for us.

BTW When was our last GF appearance?

'61 against Hawthorn

Thanks.

Last GF appearance 44 years ago. I am only 39. Some Poor Bulldog supporters have been waiting longer than me. Farrrk!

As Eade has successfully turned around the careers of many players eg McMahon & Gilbee, I think we should keep an open mind on his selection of Bowden.

His skills are recognised but his endeavour has been rarely seen.

Pat you have been given your chance, please grab it!

Show us what you have got man!!!!!

I dont think we can take his brothers example to get much comfort.I always thought the was unfairly maligned at Richmond and was alot better than there supporters gave him credit for.He was there whipping boy.I remember the year Brown got traded and Bowdens name was thrown around as part of the deal I checked his stats and he was 2nd or 3rd in almost every stat for them including hard ball gets and tackles. This was before he made his famous move to CHB.He was a better and more rounded player than Patrick at the same age but you would expect that given that Parick has 4cm on him and plays a slightly different style.

I think Patrick really needs to nail his chance at CHB when he gets it and then maybe later on they will move him back to CHF.From a couple of thibngs Eade has said lately I would say tha Bowden will get his shot at CHB.

I thought you were Merv Hobbs.

I am sad now!

The nick is in recognition of Merv and that mark. Not for being Runners Up in 61.

It is a bit sad though that 61 was our last GF appearance

We played (and won) 4 night GFs b/w mid-60s and 70. We also won the 1988 and 1998 Reserves GFs. The 88 side had a ruck combination of Wynd Atkins Libba - not bad!!
