Shun Aussie sheep: US activists urge
16:41 AEDT Wed Dec 1 2004
American animal rights activists have launched a campaign in Los Angeles, urging a boycott of Australian merino wool products in a bid to pressure the Australian government to stop the "torture" of sheep.
The campaign, which has already had significant success with American fashion retailer Abercrombie & Fitch dropping Australian wool from its clothing line, could put a large hole in Australia's exports to the US.
The Virginia-based People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) plans to blitz four Australian consulates in the US, as well as the Australian embassy in Washington DC, with protests over the next month.
The group wants the Australian government to stop the export of live animals and also objects to sheep undergoing mulesing.

Just annoys me when people take a holier than thou attitude when it personally doesnt offend them. Let it go people nothing will change. If the RSCPA thought it was a bad practice dont you think they would be prosecuting?
