As arrogant as they are, Port ALWAYS try to go into games as the underdog. They hate the favourites tag - they can't deal with the pressure.

All the best for Saturday Geelong
Just know three quarters of South Australias population will be behind you. Prove to all of us this year why you finished on top.:D

Good Luck:)

Re: Hands Up!

Yep, and this week's just like any other week?

Downhill skier.
It is just another week to the Cats. They've treated every game the same this year. The players and coaches have stuck to their resolve and this week will simply be just another week to them.

Once again, Chocco is talking crap and Cornes has his arrogance in overdrive. It is quite clear down at Alberton that the entire club has been over-awed with this weeks events as all they can talk about is the Grand Final.

Sure Cats supporters are living up the atmosphere of Grand Final week but have you seen the club refer for the occasion once? No. It is just another week to them. They have played infront of GF size crowds 3 times this year compared to Ports, um, none. The roar inside that colluseum is going to weaken the 3rd youngest side in the comp at the knees.

Now stop following the lead of your fast food sponsored coach and take your trash talk back over the border where it belongs.

Re: Mark Williams

Mark Williams is the master of psychological games, especially before big ones. If he says what he says, you'd do better to have a good think about why he's saying it, and what the real effects will be, rather than leaping up automatically and calling him a bigmouthed tool.
Actually the best way to deal with his apparent mind games or psycho babble is to let him speel off as much dribble as possible and not pay any attention to him.

A big noter such as Chocco would be going insane that his opposition was paying him lip service. He's like a school bully with no one to punch. He'll be slamming his head against a wall before long.

If he has to rely on playing mind games just to win then that's just sad.
Go work on your game plan or something, Chocco.

I had this dream of Scarlett kicking the match winning goal, and then running up to his opponent Tredrea and bowing. I can so imagine him doing that too :p

Re: Mark Williams

You do if your major sponsor is a bigmouthed tool who already dissed you publicly as senior coach.
No you dont unless you are a self centered egotistical twat.

The team comes 1st not the individual. Mark Williams took it as a personal insult and then retaliated against the man who gives money to the club.

Never been a fan of this guy, but...

He's actually nailed this as good as I think anyone has so far.

Bartel sends Port powerful message

THE big heads at Port Adelaide would have learned a rich lesson watching the Brownlow Medal unfold on Monday night.
Jimmy Bartel was an emphatic winner. To finish seven votes clear after missing the final two games of the year is undeniably the performance of the best player in 2007.
What Port players and supporters should have noticed was the humility and respect with which the Geelong mid-fielder accepted his award. All the right people were thanked, there was no self-serving gloss applied. No bows, no high stepping jigs. A modest man accepted the highest individual award in the AFL.
"I am definitely embarrassed by it at the moment. It is a pretty humbling experience to get your name read out at the Brownlow, let alone win one," Bartel, 23, said.
Here was one classy act. Take note Port Adelaide, success can be achieved without denigrating your opposition. Sportsmanship lives on, just not at Alberton.
With the Brownlow done, the season is hurtling towards the end. Geelong will play Port on Saturday for the premiership. Already Geelong has won a bunch of awards. The club has supplied nine players to the All-Australian team, won the Rising Star award with Joel Selwood and romped home in the VFL grand final.
If it wins the great trophy, then it will have defeated a team that has risen to its peak this past month. Port's chances of adding to its 2004 title cannot be underestimated. The Power is a mix of premiership experience, pace and youth.

Re: Mark Williams

Williams is a great coach but a massive tool and he passes that arrogance on to his players.
Mark Williams is a former Collingwood captain, and dual Copeland Trophy winner. He wants to return to Victoria to coach some day. Collingwood supporters such as yourself should remember this.

:D That's funny! That thread on the Port Board shows that you are equally obsessed with us at present.

HA HA. Patrick Smith.

I look forward to seeing how players (Geelong and Port) conduct themselves during the GF, if and when the game is beyond doubt in their favour.

No celebrating with the crowd, guys. Don't want to "denigrate the opposition"! That would be "unsportsmanlike".

I think that another definition of unsportsmanlike would be to have a go at a football player/team in the paper, knowing that they can't have a go back at you during GF week!.
