Recommitted Paddy Dow [OOC 2023] explored his options, but stayed

I do agree with your second paragraph.

But in saying that it’s more of a criticism of Will than a credit to Paddy.

Hopefully he gets an opportunity in the seniors to finally step up and hold his position before the end of the year.

With Cerra coming back and Will next in line I’m not sure what else he can do to get a game.
Would have to agree.
I've been a fan of his for a while but he just doesn't seem to get much of an opportunity, and when he does he just hasn't put it together consistently.
With the current set up it looks like he'd be competing mainly for a hff/mid role and there's Fish, Cottrell and others doing well there atm. Add Cuningham as well if he's fit this year.
Not likely to knock anyone out of a settled mid group either, so I reckon just be fair to the kid and let him go to whoever will give him games.
That's just footy.
We'll get sfa for him but them's the breaks too.

You wouldn't take Worpel for free? 🤡
Don't believe so. Nothing against the kid, but I think with our team selections this year we've shown we only want a certain amount of inside mids playing each week. Reckon we have more than enough young average inside mid replacements running around in the twos. Club doesn't want to take up another list spot on a player like this when we don't have the cover in other areas.
Unless he grows 12cm and can shut down players like Lewis?

If Carlton threw in a first maybe. Not because Worpel is good but to make up for the salary we would pay Dow in the vfl.

Think Worpel is going to Geelong if he actually decides to leave the Hawks tbh

Probably needs another club to have a fresh start.

But does he deliver like Brodie or more like SPS?

The similarity between them all would be trade value as all risk would be in the hands of the receiving club.

Think he will deliver easily more then SPS. Brodie probably not.

Been given far more opportunity than Brodie ever was.

Brodie is a weird one. First round draft pick that was not given a shot for some bizarre reason (Somebody really should ask Stuart Dew) So the talent was already there, he was just never had a chance to show it. Not sure you could make the same case for Dow.

Richmond and Geelong interested according to Tom Browne.

Geelong have 3 picks in the 3rd round. You think one of them probably gets it done in a straight swap. Richmond have 2 picks in the 2nd round then nothing until pick 83. Would probably need to get a 3rd round pick from somewhere or trade their later 2nd rounder with a pick coming back their way (late 3rd or early 4th).

Not a chance we'd up a 2nd round pick for Dow no matter what comes back. So 30 for Dow and 62? :straining:

How about 83 for Dow and 84 ;)

He has no value on the trade table. Will be for a token pick wherever he ends up. Would be a DFA if he wasn't contracted.

We will do the right thing by him but won't give him away for absolutely nothing so he will net us at least a 3rd round pick. I'm sure interested clubs won't have an issue paying that.

I honestly think we'd take that.

If a club is in the market for a one-dimensional inside midfielder who's only skill is jumping on a loose ball and handing it off to the next in line they are welcome to Dow. Still lacks fitness, isn't a great kick. Can't play any other position.

He's value will go down again next year when he comes out of contract, and we are stacked for inside mids as it is. Pick 30 isn't the worst pick and could get us some upside key position player.

From limited viewing his brother looks like a bit of a spud as well.

I think we settle on 2nd and send a late pick with him.
