Well I reckon Paddy is our best recruit since Wanganeen and Wangas (eventually) wore number 4, so it seems to be the perfect number for Paddy. Hopefully it also represents the number of flags he'll be a part of

Coach Ken Hinkley said Ryder would slot in nicely into the team a dual-position player.
“We think Paddy can really add a lot to our team, both to share the ruck duties and work in tandem with Lobbe to help out Schulzy and Westy up forward,” Hinkley said.
“Paddy is clearly a gifted player and we believe, with the footy environment we’re creating at Alberton, he can take his game to a new level.
“We wish Paddy and his family all the best with the move and we are sure the extended Port Adelaide family will make them feel welcome in Adelaide straight away.”

I agree and given that Paddy was said to be impressed with the clubs indigenous program, I would love the day I see Wangas present him with the number 4 guernsey.

I'm hoping his presence in the team (when available/fit and firing) will have as big an effect as bringing in Ollie Wines.

Where Wines was able to enhance the games of Boak, Hartlett, Gray allowing them to use their polish; I'm hoping Ryder will have a similar effect on our talls.

Looking forward to 'less' in 2015.
- Less occurrences of kicking to an empty forward line
- Less midfield stoppage fade outs from Westhoff rucking or Lobbe tiring out
- Less opposition goal runs with Westhoff free to stifle momentum
- Less reliance and workload on Lobbe
