Fantastic player and a great get for the club . His ruck work has been sublime especially this year .
He's great to watch with his poetry in motion leap .
Great post by REH .he could be just coming into his peak years and have a great 3,4,5 years come and yea a slow progression to part time ruck in his twilight years sounds good .
Thanks again Essendon for our best two recruits .

Even the coach is loving having him at the club after his game yesterday.

Hinkley: We're lucky to have Paddy
...."He’s a pretty special player," Hinkley said post-match. "I love him, I can’t help that.

"He’s the best ruckman in the competition and we’re lucky to have him in the team this year. "He’s dominating games week in, week out. "He’s had a significant impact, having had a year off football."....

Will get better with age

The set plays at ball ups are working well. Paddy taps the ball into a planned spot. Ollie runs into said spot, breaks through tackles then fires out a decisive handball/kicks the ball to advantage. I'd be happy to argue that Ryder is our most important player. He's an absolute beast, the best ruck in the league, not only in terms of tap work but his work around the ground is second to none. We have seen the effects of what having a poor Lobbe and Trengove do for our midfield, which really only makes me more appreciative of how well Ryder's playing this season.

Pretty special career journey to have so many different phases in various positions performing to a high level. When he first came into the league was initially developed as an athletic half back potentially capable of stopping the seemingly unmatchable freaks like Buddy. Showed he was more than adept there, but there was always the correct notion that his effect was going to be greater in the ruck and remember watching in awe as he leaped, bashed, crashed and tackled Essendon back into the game for that miracle Anzac Day 2009 match. Played plenty of footy up forward over the years too with a few decent hauls as a very difficult to counter marking target given his athleticism and skill if the ball hit the ground. Then as we know there was the transition again back into being an elite full time ruckman with us.

I doubt many footballers have ever shown such genuine adeptness on every line of the ground at the elite level. Pleasure to watch play.

Damn we missed him last year :(
Imagine if Schulz hadn't got injured, Ryder, Schulz and Dixon!

Hopefully the year off has added two years to the end of his career.

I put a ten on him at the the beginning of the year to win the Brownlow. Had to get the guy to call me back with odds as he wasn't in the market. Obviously won't be in the running. Might go again next year.

Didn't make the "team of the week" lol. Onya afl website.

12.01 am the day under the rules he was allowed to train at the club and 2 months before the CAS ban terminated.
