Review PAFC 2025 Internal Trial @ Alberton

Friday 7th of March, 3 quarters, 5:45pm @ Alberton Oval. Free entry.

Due to a different event format this year based on current pre-season training requirements; the event will not be live streamed. The club will keep fans unable to make it up to date via our social channels.

The details:
4:00pm – Gates open
5:00pm (approx.) – AFL training and warm-up commences
5:45pm (approx.) – Match simulation commences
7:00pm (approx.) – Match simulation concludes

Pending the injury list: Rioli (Calf), Ratugolea (Knee), Burton (Groin), Visentini (Knee) and Moss to be assessed.

Excepting the sides to look as even as possible, rather than A's vs B's. Maybe one side has the AFL forward line, the other the AFL backline. It should feature some SANFL listed players as well.

I love port and footy but I’m not watching a live stream of an internal match simulation on a Friday night.

The afl probably doesn’t want us to stream a game at the same time as the afl opener.

I dunno just a guess, I don’t think it’s a big deal.

I generally don't want to be negative about the club, there's enough of that already. But don't treat us like idiots. They're not withdrawing the stream they promised because of a "different event format".

It's basically just a glorified training session as far as i'm concerned. If they want to work on things the week before round 1 without it being available for everyone to view, i'm okay with it. Honestly, i prefer this, if there is any possible way we can gain even a 1% chance of beating Collingwood at the MCG in round 1 i'm taking it.

Yes, everyone will see our game plan in round 1 anyway, but i reckon this trial game they are probably working on things with a specific Collingwood focus.

I was sure I read somewhere it was going to be live streamed. I would have watched if it was and I'm sure many others would have. And as they felt the need to tell us it wouldn't be, there must have been an expectation of vision of the trial.

There might be a clash with the AFL but that's not the reason they're giving.

I feel like it's becoming a hill I'm going to die on and It really isn't worth that, but I found their explanation to be corporate double-speak. Why does "different event format" - whatever that means - preclude showing a match sim that is open to the public anyway?
