I think you underestimate how hard it is to maintain size during an AFL season when you’re running a lot and focussing primarily on recovery after games.

It’s not surprising he can put on size when he has a year off playing.

Sometimes having players that change there body shape in a hurry can come unstuck.
I remember Wingard went from fit looking to buffed up quickly and his game deteriorated.
You have to find the right balance or it will have a negative impact.

I’m not seeing any great transformation. I have pretty much written Lord off, but was hoping he may come back looking like Thilthorpe but can’t see any real development. Lack of clear pictures of Marshall - hope he has out on the reported 10kg and hope he makes a go of it down back - but his eggshell skull make it a very tenuous last chance saloon
