Hey you're right. Put on a happy face :)

I dont know how many sessions I'll be able to get to what with exams and crap like that, but there'll be full reports after every one I manage to make it to.

Juniors go back on Wednesday November 12 (dont know if I'll make that one) and seniors + All Australians (well, we didnt HAVE any of those) go back a week later on Wednesday November 19 (dont know if I'll make that one either). I'll make sure I get down there the first couple of sessions after the upcoming drafts to scope out the talent. I promise to give Llane an official welcome to the club :D

How about we pass the hat around and see if we can sponsor Llane if (when) he comes to the club. Maybe we can find a corporate sponsor who we have to mention in each post.

What's the going rate for player sponsorship in the AFL?

I like the idea. I know a website sponsored a few players this year but I cant remember who it was or which club they were from.

I'll do a bit of digging around and see what I can find, but it'd sure be great to walk into the Port Club, look up and see

Perhaps in a joint venture with Power from Port. I know I'm not from those parts but there would have to be a few that crossover every now and then.

Just racking my brain and I can think of 2 clients that my firm does some work for that sponsor players and/or the Power. I think it costs about $700 for Josh Francou to do an appearance at a shopping centre so player sponsorship would surely be 1 grand at least.

Jaysus

"Jen, what would you like for your 18th?"
"$2,395..."
"What for!?"
"To sponsor a Power player."

...can't see it happening myself, she'd go off on a tangent about how there are starving kids around the world and I want $2,395 to sponsor a player...:(

Christ, maybe we can just try and claim a finders fee?

Or maybe we can try and get a discount for a rookie.

It looks like Petrie and Motlop cost the N.M. Board $3500. I would have thought we have less contributors than their board as well. Their contributions were $125.

Maintaing the same level on contribution we would need about 20 posters.

Seems like it may just be a pipe dream.

But I'd be screwed anyway 'cause if I did it then I'd have to forfeit my two interstate games next year. Not something I want to do, I'm afraid.

Oh well. We saw him first, finders keepers...;)

Tell her if you don't do it, the players will starve too.

It seems you get access to the roped off area back at the club to discuss the game. I would hazard a guess that would get a bit dangerous with some of the tempers lurking around this board. :D

Wouldn't be much use for me to go in there, I'd only be able to see legs and feet! :p

Either that or we find a core sponsor, and they pay more, but the rest of us get a bit less.

For example, someone that already gets two season tickets would put the amount they'd normally pay for those tickets into the sponsorship fund. (the club would say they could keep their same seats). So that person would put in $200 or so for their usual reserved seats, plus extra for the two PAFC Club memberships.....which they would normally be paying anyway.

Someone that drives to every game may put in an amount for the single reserved carpark - $50 or so.

Someone that would go to the B&F or Season Launch bit can pay an approximate amount for how much they're worth.

Once you've flogged off the stuff that can only be used by a few people......then you split the remainder of cost.

Thats the only way I could see it working.

You make a very good point. One of the interesting facets of doing this would be to see how much extra the club charges for the pride of sponsoring a player.

I'd pay for the car park and maybe a function or two. The only issue is a core sponsor. I wouldn't have thought the Big Footy admin would have a lazy grand hanging round. Great publicity in the club and all that. ;)

Who can kick a major?
Or handball off to Dew?
Outmark all the backman and make the Power feel good?
The Spaanderman can because he mixes it with love and makes the world taste good...

This slicing up a player sponsorship sounds good. Maybe you could pay in goods and services? Any volunteers to give the boys rub-downs?;)

Nah, when I said core sponsor, I may have used the wrong term. A core member/supporter would be more accurate.

I mean, take out the cost of the two season tickets, carpark and function tickets which could be cut up among people that already get that stuff......then we would split the cost of the rest of it, meaning either less required sponsors, or less required money.

In theory you could cut down the outstanding sponsorship amount down to ~$1800....which I'd think would be almost manageable. On the Kangas model, that'd only be around 14 people required @ $125

Damn right.. Rd 18 is gunna be huge ;) :D

btw.. I could definitely put in for a player sponcership. Poor bloody Llane has a cult following and he isn't even at the club yet. He'll need all the help he can get ;)
