To suggest Lyon is in the gun before Craig is laughable. I cannot believe how Craig has managed to avoid any criticism for the Crows current state. They were on top of the ladder this time last year and absolutely flying, yet crashed in the finals. Again. Now they are outside the 8 after a loss at home to the most disappointing team in the comp this season.

A loss to the Bombers this week at the Dome (a venue the crows have never beaten them at) and the spotlight should well and truly be on Craig.

my original post wasn't really meant to be an "us vs them" comment - but anyway..

If you read the Adelaide Board you will see plenty of criticism of Craig and his stubborness at times - but the fact remains he has the highest winning percentage of any of the current coaches...(except for Harvey)...so he'll stay safe for a while.

Why do you think Lyon would be in the gun?

Some of the Carlton supporters are harsh!!!!!!!!

I think it is tough on him, given the list he has - I don't see the point in sacking him unless they have a better option.

Just finished watching the press conference on Sky News. I thought he handled himself very professionally and very well. Greg Swann actually looked more upset with it all. His eyes were very glassy and he looked like he could have cried at any moment.

Me too. **** the PP - I hope we win a few more games and finish strongly.

Good riddance Pagan.

Agreed. Any talk of Carlton supporters wanting us to lose is a disgrace. Our boys need to learn how to win again

Can anyone quickly summarise what was said in the press conference? I missed it

It is as much about marketing to the faithful who are losing faith as it is about improving on field fortunes.

They need to be seen doing something, even if there is no real chance of doing anything at all.

Pagan is a victim of things he didnt set in place. By all reports the draft picks he got will be good, so this is just politicking within the club and others positioning to ride on the hard work Pagan had to put in. Pure genius by those with blood on the daggers

he was just having fond memories of Lexus and wondering why the hell he left there. I'd be crying too!

Lyon may be seen to be a "Butterss appointment" - and therefore not favoured by a new regime......particularly if it involved GT.

but if you read my original post - I was only speculating and not basing the assumption on anything other than St Kilda being a very political Club over the last 7 or 8 years with the coaching position seemingly closely linked to the Administration of the Day.

Somehow I don't think that Ross Lyon should be given the boot.
It wouldn't be right.

Winning percentages count for naught, just ask Pagan. His excellent record at the Roos wasn't even enough to allow him seeing out the last 1.5 years of his contract with the Blues.

AFL supporters expect instant gratification from their coaches. No one really cares what they have achieved in the past. Clubs are all about the now and the future. And for Carlton, that plan did not involve Pagan.

If there was any suggestion that Lyon should go this year, you can bet your life that Butterss would be given the boot before Lyon.

Sticks should have been there. Don't know why Pratt should be though. That's what he got Swann for.

When was the last time a president wasn't in attendance when a coach was sacked?

Would seem to me to be the one time he is expected to speak.

Typical Carlton.
