Bit of fun and nostalgia using historical WAFL matches to simulate the 2020 season...

The WAFL 2020 season will be simulated by randomly selecting a game from historical clashes between the competing sides played at the same venue following the 2020 fixture.

An online random number generator will be used to select the games.

For example: Swan Districts and Subiaco have played 119 times at Bassendean Oval prior to 2020, the random number generated produced the number 81. The 81st game between Swans and Subiaco at Bassendean Oval was round 5, 1989 so that will be the match score. This page will display the match score with a link to the real match for reference.

With a limited dataset for West Coast reserves matches, a random home game (selected by random number generator) played by the team fixtured to play the Eagles will be used to determine the match result. For example: The West Coast round 1, 2020 fixture is against Perth. Perth have played 583 times at Lathlain Park, the randomly generated number was 181. Perth's 181st game at Lathlain Park was against West Perth in round 5, 1976. This match result is used for this fixture, with used West Perth's score used as West Coast's.

Each team to play each other twice.
Top 5 finals.
Scores added weekly.
If/when the real 2020 WAFL season commences, I'll complete the simulation in full.

Very impressed by West Perth- scored more in each quarter than they did in a whole match last week.

Must be a hot weather team.

Really enjoying this Ric- thank you.
Take aways from the first third of the season are: Bill Monaghan remains a damn good coach, Subi is experiencing an unlikely premiership hangover and, SD and WP are still roller-coaster teams.

Thanks for your great work with the 2020 WAFL Simulation League, Ric, made even better by the fact that East Perth won the premiership.
I'll get in first and say this might be the closest the Mighty Royals get to a flag in 2020, though, of course, I hope I'm wrong.
