I remember streaming that innings. 6/9, absolutely putrid.

Trying to find that game I ended up looking at some of Victoria's other games last season. Some very ordinary scores. Vics need Rogers, Maxwell and Pattinson to be competitive but at present that looks unlikely to occur. Another tough SS season ahead I feel.
Oh, we're ******. Need to get games into players like Short, Handscomb, other kids.

Radical idea given our selection method, but put Handscomb in 1 position and leave him there. I hope they don't play Christian as well. Surely we can do better for medium pace all rounders than Christian. Hastings is better for starters.

Don't know about you but I'd be tempted to take the captaincy off Wade, let him concentrate on scoring runs and not stuffing up with the gloves. Jan 13 he scored a test hundred... 20 months later and he wouldn't even be next in line for the test Wk position.

I think we need a shake up.

I'd go the opposite direction. Tell Wade he should drop the gloves, focus on captaincy and batting at 5. Leave Handscomb at 3 for the season, only play Quiney when Rogers is playing for Aus and play Keath ahead of Christian if they need to play either.

Quiney/Rogers
Stoinis
Handscomb
White
Wade
Maxwell/Short
Ayre (+)
Hastings
Pattinson/Tremain
Siddle/Boland
Muirhead

What is the official word on Pattinson for this summer? I have heard people on hear say he wont be available but have not seen any reports that suggest that.
I asked on Twitter a few weeks ago, playing as a bat until mid November and then bowling after that.

I don't mind Starc but I'm really iffy about Johnson/Starc/Marsh being our 3 seamers. Just seems unstable (although it's not like the fast bowling in the first test was great, perhaps excluding Johnson's first dig).
I get what your saying, Johnson and Starc have reputations for being enigmatic and marsh isn't exactly top line. I would counter this by saying that Johnson is no longer as up and down as he used to be, he is a legit star and arguably the best bowler in the world. If it turned out that starc was off then we would just turn to our spinners who would/should be bowling most of the overs anyway. Would have the added bonus of strengthening our batting lineup which in the subcontinent seems to be a legit factor as our bowlers score half the runs and are basically our batsmen.

It really says something that Misbah is about to equal the Pakistan captaincy win record.. and he only has 13 wins under his belt. Didn't Waugh win 16 in a row?

He's brought a degree of stability to the Pakistanis. They're a pretty disciplined bunch in test matches these days and he has certainly lead by example in that regard.

Yes because domestic cricket = test cricket on away decks
Holy shit. FC cricket is the best indicator in the world to whether or not you can succeed at test level. The Sheffield Shield is the best FC competition in the world. Maxwell dominated the Shield in the games he played. This has to be one of the worst arguments I've seen on BigFooty, including "But you support da drug cheats!!!!!1"

It certainly was, I don't think it is as good as what it once was IMO. Nonetheless that's not relevant to my argument. Lots of blokes have killed it first class cricket and haven't been able to make the step up. Example Phillip Hughes. I'm saying that I don't think maxwell has the game to make that transition to a test player. You seem to think he is the next adam gilchrist as a player and he simply isn't.

It still is, comfortably. I'm not saying it's perfect but it's the best indication to it, unless there's a better one that I'm unaware about I'll continue to use it as my main point of reference to players who've played less than 10 tests.

You're a mind reader are you? I'm saying he should be in the side and is one of the few players in Australia that can actually face spin bowling without shitting himself, but to you that means I think he's the next Gilchrist.
