I think he would go ok, but because of MJ we are obsessed with pace first and tall second, thus no ticks for Chad. How do people think Sayers would go in Asia?

I tend to think he is a bit like Clarke and better suited 1-2 spots lower.smith is definitely our next number 3. just when is the question
We had Warne. Didn't stop the Indians producing home town wickets. We never will as we don't have those conditions here to practice on and even sub-continent spinner don't often do well on our pitches.
The key is to have a world class spinner or two so sub-continent teams are too afraid to doctor up their pitches. None of those around though.
Been saying this for a while. I'd swap him and Clarke now, given their respective form lines.I tend to think he is a bit like Clarke and better suited 1-2 spots lower.
We're really scraping the barrel for a three against India then.
Can't possibly go back to Doolan.
They obviously don't want to select Smith at 3 but I think they might have to
Surely Johnston gets a pass as well? Took half the wickets at sub-30 IIRC compared to 100+ for the others I think. As per usual no-one will be held accountable, we've got a big home series coming up so .....you know.
Utterly slaughtered by a 40 year old captain, a 38 year old Number 4, and a bunch of no-name bowlers on road wickets.
Positives:
Marsh, Smith, Warner.
That is all.
You realise it's not all just a choice right? You are competing against people who have played on these pitches their whole lives, so it's not like you can just flick a switch and because seriously good at facing spin. Results like this will continue to happen until Australian batsmen get serious about becoming adept at playing quality spin bowling on helpful pitches.
Which means that results like this will continue to happen for quite some time yet.
Least someone got some runswent for a poo and came back to 3 down for the sesh
I think he's better than Siddle at the minuteThe knock on Sayers is his pace, he's gonna have to outperform everyone else by a distance to get a start. He's up to it.
I fail to see how Sayers and co. would have done much better on those decks.Bird is the better version of Siddle. That said, Siddle deserves more than 2 matches on highways.
Our main issue is carrying the worst spinner in world cricket. If he could just do well, it makes everyone look far better than they have done.I fail to see how Sayers and co. would have done much better on those decks.
Trying to become a better player of spin is certainly a choice. You realise it's not all just a choice right? You are competing against people who have played on these pitches their whole lives, so it's not like you can just flick a switch and because seriously good at facing spin.
the worst spinner in world cricket.
Marsh makes debut test ton?
Yes. Why remember recent events when you can overreact RIGHT NOW?
Warne took 30 odd wickets @15 in Sri Lanka in 2005
debut = firstBit hard to make a debut ton in your second test.
Australia has wont 1 test from 15 in AsiaAustralia has lost SIX consecutive tests in Asia in the last 18 months. Overreaction? I think not!
Was 2004, and he still bowled wellNo he didn't.
Maiden ton is the term generally used. Debut refers to first match.debut = first
so yes, it would have been his debut ton
Debut ton, is not the same thing as a ton on debut, However i get the confusion.Bit hard to make a debut ton in your second test.
Lol, solidLeast someone got some runs
Lol, solid
Hearing whispers that Maxwell has been practicing a new shot for the first test in Brisbane, apparently it's called a '360-Big-Show' and will regularly be deployed when we are at least 500 runs behind. Looking forward to it!
Callum Ferguson.
Been part of the International scene before (ODI) and, here's the kicker, lost his place due to injury, not loss of form or generally being s**t.
Just come off the opening Shield game with 100* and 65*.
And. He. Bats. Three.
