Siddle was our best bowler in the second innings in my opinion. Got a whole heap of inside edges, so clearly he was getting it to reverse.
Siddle's figures

0-44
1-50

Yeah 1-94, he was brilliant I tell you...was basically 0/90 after his first wicket. Tight yes, but didn't create chances.

More to bowling than just wickets pal. His spell at Adelaide was one of the greatest spells I ever saw live, and it certainly wasn't because he took a huge bag.

These conditions you need flatter dart spinners. Heck I would have taken Michael Beer on this tour for this reason. O'Keefe and Maxwell are good enough as spinners. Lyon was dreadful.
Maybe Lyon is the guy who benefits when the pace attack are on top. So opposition batsmen figure he is "the guy to go attack" and he gets the benefit.

In these conditions we need wicketakers, especially when and lets be honest here, our spinners are C graders at best. His Adelaide spell he got wickets.

Lyon needs bounce, in fact his record is abysmal on turning tracks, whilst being fantastic on pitches with bounce. It is the worst type to have on a turning pitch.

No you don't
Shah is a slow leg spinner, and Babar turned it quite heavily with a bit of bounce.
What you need on this pitches, is someone who can turn it a long way
Unfortauntely Lyon is all we have at the moment for that
Adding another part timer won't improve the situation it will only make it worse.

Nathan Lyon at Test Level
114 Wickets @ 34.34, SR 67, Econ 3.05

Glenn Maxwell at Domestic Level
42 Wickets @ 37, SR 65.3, Econ 3.48

Maxwell is barely an all rounder

I don't care what spinner has the best record at domestic level, to get wickets in the sub continent you need a bloke who turns it and has a change up ball. Don't care if they aren't consistent, as long as when they are on something happens.

Would be devastating for SOK if Boyce gets called up. Only just getting your cap before (and getting dropped for) a guy with double the average.
I didn't mind SOK's game, Lyon was pathetic though. For a bloke who has taken over 100 test wickets, on a deck that suits spinners, he was pathetic.

Ahmed is terrible. Worse than Jon Holland.
As someone who watches the shield both live and streaming of CA. Ahmed is not terrible at all. So I couldn't disagree with you more.

He's better the Holland easily, after all we are talking about red ball bowling here aren't we. Not white ball ODD's and T20 stuff.

I love this forum when we're losing. Such a cut off your nose to spite your face attitude :D

Lyon doesn't need to be dropped, but he does need to be bloody told to stop firing in 90km/h darts and actually slow it down and toss it up. It's amazing how much better he looks when he does it - he has a genuine issue with rushing through his overs when things aren't going our way.

Pakistan look so talented its frightening. And always have done. Its just the relentless off field shit that rips them apart all the time and denies them any semblance of the stability needed to become a great die.

Terrorist attacks, match fixing, fitness issues, chucking, beamers, fast bowlers getting 'STD's' - what's next?

It wasn't long ago that Mohammed Amir was turning into the next Wasm Akram until he got done.

Well played Pakistan this test. For the sake of international cricket, lets hope it continues. Their performance was awesome and they are enjoyable to watch when they're on fire.

Starc should play the next test I reckon. Just looks more threatening than Sids I reckon - he's prone to produce an unplayable yorker, and generates more bounce. Plus give the offies even more of a rough to work into.
