Ahh the sun, gotta love em. RVN is valued at what - £12m? So apparently we have upped our price again on Carrick to £22m now. Ah yes, naughty Spurs over valueing players again.

Birmingham City will offer Portsmouth £1.5m for Andy O'Brien. (Daily Mail)

Hmmm, 500K less and I'll take that.

Birmingham want to sign young Gunners duo Sebastian Larsson and Fabrice Muamba on loan for the season. (Daily Mail)

Hahaha. If he has rejected Spurs' final contract offer as has been reported, the price will end up around 13-14m at the most.

Much better than Carrick.

Chelsea left-back Wayne Bridge wants to quit the club because of the possible arrival of Ashley Cole. (Various)

Would be a good signing for basically anyone. Quality player, just isn't as good as Ash 'Turkey Slap' Cole'.

Liverpool will offer Jerzy Dudek and Jan Kromkamp as makeweights in their attempt to sign Feyenoord striker Dirk Kuyt for £10m. (Various)

That wouldn't be enough to get Carl Veart.

Bolton are leading a posse of English clubs who hope to sign 6ft 8in Partizan Belgrade striker Nikola Zigic. (Daily Mail, Daily Mirror)

My boys don't fool around baby!

Who could say 'no' to Big Sam? (apart from women)

Newcastle's hopes of signing Aston Villa striker Juan Pablo Angel have been hit by the battle for power at Villa Park. (The Sun)

He'd be a good signing. Especially for the price he'll be available at.

Martin O'Neill will be installed as new Aston Villa manager if the consortium led by fan Michael Neville is successful in their bid to buy the club. (Various)

Big name clubs, deserve big name managers. Pretty simple logic really.

Muamba is like the Congan Vieira. Very young and raw though.

Larsson is a utility player who's played about thirty or so senior games. Can play MC, LM, LB and RM. He played left-back for us when we played your boys at St. Andrews last season.

Steve Harper only if he comes for less then a mill would be ok business.

Im surprised Bridge hasnt moved on already

No way Bolton could afford Zigics wages.

Us getting Harper is more realistic than the rumour I read of West Ham getting Ricardo.

A hell of alot cheaper too.

Would be very happy to get Javier-he is and will be a very good player.

Carrick will struggle to come to United. No way is he worth RVN and cash. RVN, although alreasy 30 is a great player, worth more than Carrick on his own. Would like to see Carrick playing for United, but definitely not for that much. Way to overrate your players, Spurs :thumbsd:

If it came down to either Mascherano or Carrick to United, I would much rather Javier. Would be happy to get both, but I just can't see that happening.

which would explain why both he and harry redknapp were at cork city last night watching him play for crvena zvezda (red star belgrade) in the champs league...

Different sorts of players - Mascherano would be the guy doing the dirty work to make time and space for Carrick to pick out his passing (sort of like Gattuso and Pirlo).

If we could get both for 30m that's a first class central pairing for the next 5-7 years.

I think Mascherano and Carrick will be a fantastic partnership if Rooney continues to develop as a second striker, or even if Scholes gets back to his best. Won't work as part of a 4-4-2 though, neither of them get into dangerous positions.

I think Thewlis Dish has got it bang on, Mascherano can be your Gattuso (or your Makelele) doing the dirty work, Carrick can be your Pirlo (although nowhere near as good) doing the more creative business.

that's just spurs pretending to their supporters that they're trying to drive a hard bargain, by almost signing RVN.

nice work if you can get it.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has questioned whether new Chelsea signing Andriy Shevchenko is worth £30 by comparing him to Eric Cantona - who joined United for £1m in 1992. (The Times)

or you could compare it to the 28mio paid for Veron :)

what's fergie playing at in the last few days?

I don't understand what Real Madrid are thinking? 10 for RVN? Please. Somewhere along the line clubs seem to have got the impression that we are desperate to sell him. SAF has now come out and wisely suggested that if the right offer doesn't come along then we will keep the prolific goal scorer. Here are the prices that a few strikers have gone for:

-Shevchenko: 35 million
-Crespo: 16 million
-Drogba: 20 something million
-Berbatov: 10 million
-Andy Johnson: 8 million
-Rooney: 27 million
-Saha: 13 million
-Owen: Can't remember exactly, was it like 16 or something?

etc etc

Yet Madrid are only offering 10? and Tottenham want RVN + 10million for Carrick? That is borderline insulting. I don't blame Tottenham for wanting to get the most for their player, that's fine, but Madrid offering 10 is a joke.

Going on the prices the strikers mentioned above went for i'm surprised Utd are willing to let him go for 15. I would've thought that given RVN's goal scoring record at every level his price would be closer to 20, i dont care how old he is, he scores goals. If I was David Gill i'd be telling Madrid to **** off and stop wasting my time with ridiculous bids.
