He rates him highly, but not necessarily highly enough to make him spill 10 million on a striker that we don't need when we have other more pressing areas to fix.

It will be interesting to see what fee Owen will attract.

I think United could go as high as 11 million provided we sell a few of the fringe players. That would probably result in a net outlay of around 5 million.

The same can be said of Fergie, another striker's not exactly what Man Utd need right now

True.

Still, if Owen arrives at Old Trafford, Saha will be sold.

Its up to Mr Glazer whether the money is there or not, you would think so.

Also by offloading any/all of kleberson, Saha, Bellion,Fortune, Solskjaer,P.Neville, they should be able to get 4-5 million and then spend about 6 to do the deal.
He wont go there to make up the numbers and start on the bench, he can do that at R. Madrid.
Liverpool wouldnt have signed Crouch if they were going for Owen.
Doubt he will go to Arsenal, maybe if Reyes went the other way in the deal.

Crouch will have nothing to do with whether we sign Owen or not

Baros gone, Crouch in, and Crouch is the complete contrast to Baros or Owen, Owen would be a more appropriate replacement for Baros.

But in saying that, we need right side options, and a centre back, but Rick Parry and the likes would definitely get the money out if Owen's availble, and if Owen's fair dinkum in coming back, he'd pay some out of his own pockets.

It all lies in whether Rafa is interested or not, and he probably isn't
