2007 Premiers Street Parade - Wednesday 3 October 2007 at 11am

Join us at a Street Parade this Wednesday from 11am to honour the 2007 AFL Premiership Team, the Geelong Football Club.

A Parade of Ford vehicles will travel along MALOP STREET in Central Geelong, from Swanston Street to Gheringhap Street, finishing in Johnstone Park. The Parade will be led by the Geelong West Brass Band.

City of Greater Geelong Mayor, Cr Bruce Harwood will welcome the premiership team and make a short presentation on stage in Johnstone Park, immediately following the Parade. Festivities are scheduled to conclude by 12noon.

To allow for the safe staging of the parade, please note that Malop Street from Swanston to Gheringhap Streets will be closed to traffic from approximately 6.00am. Due to the necessary installation and removal of pedestrian barriers along the parade route, there will be no parking allowed in Malop Street from 12midnight Tuesday and the Malop Street road closure is expected to remain in place until mid afternoon. North/South traffic on roads between Swanston and Gheringhap Streets will be restricted from approximately 10am to 12noon.

So, leave your car at home and hop on public transport, or consider one of the City's park and ride services, then head into Central Geelong this Wednesday to honour the 2007 AFL Premiers, the Geelong Football Club!

For more details, please telephone 03 5227 0270.

Proudly presented by the City of Greater Geelong, the Geelong Football Club and supported by 95.5 K-Rock,
93.9 BayFM and The Geelong Advertiser Group.

There is also a couple of pdf's on that site for download

Re: Meet up after the parade..

11am, will go along Malop St and end at Johnstone Park, where there will be a presentation of the players.

I think Shell needs to get numbers for the meet-up, as she's booked a table for lunch (ask for a table under her name) so PM her and let her know you're coming.

Well I certainly plan on being there all day/night tomorrow. Or at least somewhere in Geelong. While I was there on Saturday night, I missed Sunday.

Thanks to everyone for replying. Have an estimate on numbers and looks like I got it pretty spot on, so I wont have to change the booking.

Cyas tomorrow!!! :thumbsu:

Weather looks like it's going to be pretty poor, but I'm sure plenty will still turn up.

Just back from parade...

Huge crowds along Malop street. Nathan Ablett was missing, for whatever reason. Maxy was absolutely stuffed, was sitting next to Kingy and Kingy had to wave Maxy's hand for him!! :D:D

Costa and Cook got their own car which was a nice touch

Re: Just back from parade...

They went to quick. And when Gazza went past there were all these photographers and cameramen around him. He had the cup at the time and we couldnt see him. It was not good, bloody press this was for the fans not them.

Re: Just back from parade...

Re: Just back from parade...

Oh, and Mooney has his whole hand/wrist bandaged, who knows what that was from!

Oh awesome. I'm dying to see pics, since it doesn't look like aflphotos.com.au have any.

Re: Just back from parade...

watch the replay - you can see his hand was bleeding a fair bit probably from the split webbing that opened up during the match

Seems like a hell of a lot of bandaging from just a split webbing, having had that injury myself before.

Anybody know the whereabouts of N.Ablett yet?

It's from when he split the webbing in the 1st qtr of the Rd22 game against Brisbane.

Re: Just back from parade...

I thought the VFL boys may have tagged along as well, haven't they played a big part in the clubs success this year, anyway I'm glad it didn't rain too much on the parade.:) nice to see the city full of people in blue and white .
