Well this board seems a little hung up on talking drugs and ignoring the races themselves so I will see how the Paris - Nice thread runs.

Contador took the prolougue last night 7 seconds in front of Bradley Wiggins and 14 seconds in front of David Millar who has been talking himself up as going for the win Cadel is 31 seconds behind.

Only a few aussies riding. Mark Renshaw is Columbia's best sprinter so couild be a chance of a stage win in the race.

Stage 2 tonight has no big peaks so a sprint could ensure

you know, i completely forgot about this race until i saw the results in the paper this morning.

Cadel is showing a bit of form already - not enough just yet which is good - but it'll be good to see him fit and firing this season.

Yes he is but he made choice to race in German colors.

Renshaw got second in the sprint behind Haussler.

Haussler, Chavanel and Renshaw are putting themselves into contention for the points side of the race

actually, you are wrong. He rode for German juniors, but he wants to represent Australia.

There is a very good chance, he will be in Geelong in 2010. At this stage, I would have him as Australia's best chance to win the World Champs next year.

The parcours is out the back of nor' Geelong I think, west, north. Near Iffy's bike shop. Sure will be a piss up there.

Aus chances on that course? Trav Meyer in espoirs if he is not on Garmin, and it looks like he has signed with Garmin. Have not seen Bobridge 160km legs yet. OShea is an outside chance, Matthews is a big chance.

Pros. Haussler first, then Alby Davis. Matt Goss is a chance, because he can climb for a sprinter, and make the selections. Walker, Lloyd, Howard, as the course is a bit tough, but none can finish off a sprint, in a small group, and would need to come to the line solo. Gerrans can definitely win, he can finish off a race with a sprint, when lined up against the second tier like Pozzato, Gilbert, Flecha, Cancellara, Sanchez. I would count him putting away Flecha, but think 8 times out of 10, the others have his measure.

If Cooke got his finger out, he could win it. The selection for the 9 man or 10 man team will be HOT. Lots of politics. Suck up to Bannan now. Be a travesty in they take OGrady and Mcewen when they will be meddling middling domestiques. Need those 9 riders who can win, and behind 2 leaders.

Stage last night was awesome, great riding from Rabobank, Contador completely caught out, Chavennel in the lead
