no. he brings experience. when the going gets tough his leadership is worth every penny in the back line.

Father Time is catching up with Old Man Parksy, however I don't think he's quite got him yet.

There are times, yes, when he has a bit of a brain freeze and stuffs up (eg end of the 3rd quarter yesterday). But then he goes back and takes a courageous saving mark in the backline and clears the ball (ala the 4th quarter).

He'd need to string together some real shockers to get himself dropped.

He is making poor disposal errors but his defending and versitilty keeps him in,but if hayden keeps pressing for a place he could go if he has a few bad ones IMO

Hayden rolled his ankle playing for Souths yesterday. Don't know how serious it is.

Don't underestimate the importance of the older players in the team. Parker has his fair share of clangers but his contributions week in and out are very much needed.

I can't say for sure but i reckon his massive experience, cool temperament and exceptional skill's under pressure has been the impedus for the emergence of these younger defenders that are starting to show their worth.

I agree completely. He has been the one constant presence in our backline for quite a while and for good reason. I think it gives other backline players the confidence to create run knowing that Old Man Parks will be in the right position in case of a rebound.

He has had a few clangers this year, but is still a long way from the retirement home IMO.

That is my feeling, his presence allows the "pups" to run off up ground knowing that The Twig is watching their moves, ready to cover any rebound.

On the weekend Pav made more clangers than The Twig.

We have too many defenders than hang off their man as it is without even considering dropping him. The young guys can learn a lot from someone like him and he has to remain there as an example of what is expected of them at this level. The thing is with the way he plays, he hangs so close to his man he is always going to be put under pressure with his disposal. Guys like Thornton, Mundy and co read the play incredibly well and can judge when they can hang off their man, but they need to be able to mix it up. They still have much to learn, Grovers probably there already, but the rest of them really need that senior figure there to learn off.

Youngest ripper & I watched the game yet again this afternoon and slowed down Action Man's "throw" and it turned out to be a handball.

He was ripped off.

Loved when he took the mark and showed the ball , the big lair!

I agree it was a handball, but hey life goes on. The maggots (green snot) are blind so what do you expect.

I am a bit worried that Shane is mixing with the wrong crowd. This season I have seen him getting involved in alot of "jumper pushing and shoving" scuffles, plus he is becoming a bit of a show off (showing the ball). I suppose next week I expect to see him front up to the media for the weekly Freo news conference.

I will be speaking to my buddy in very strong terms about his learising lately, whether he answers me is another question.

He has done this all his career. They could make a 2 hour DVD just on his stuff ups, esp love his old kick outs. Make a good comedy DVD!

Has a very strange habit of getting his arms free with the ball and standing flat-footed almost accepting the tackle. His lateral movement is very average. Still serviceable but the clock is ticking.

His disposal has always been somewhat accepted because of his stopping ability, but he hardly seems to have that anymore.. Would rather see Haddrill and Hayden back there than Parker (gone) and Schammer (midfield).

Lacking in confidence at the moment and not too far from being given a run in the WAFL. NO ONE can be exempt from the current selection policy. M Carr and Shane should be feeling a little nervous.

I agree, both of these players appear to be liabilities at the moment. Did you see those 2 clangers made by MCarr, passing it directly to the opposition, not good enough. I too am sick of Parker advertising the ball above his head but just waiting there to be tackled and not giving it off quick enough.
