I know these guys have a tough gig but fair dinkum some of them are just real smartalecs with an ego. Got done this past week in a shopping centre carpark in the burbs for parking in a permit zone with an expired permit, the rest of the car park is 2 hour till 9pm which is just ridiculous in itself but was told to park there and than move the car every 2 hours.

I explained to the chap "i work at the centre full time how do you expect me do that? Than got told "oh my daughter works in moonee ponds and she moves it every 2 hours" i asked were and was told "side street parking", i than asked how that situation is the same as shopping centre parking when your talking a bigger area with more parking spots to which he replied "2 hour is 2 hour makes no difference" so than why dont you enforce the rule you clown and not once a week or every 2 weeks when you feel like it. Anyone else got similar stories about parking inspectors?

Along with social media managers and street sales/charity collectors, it must be the most tedious soul destroying job in the world. Had one give me a ticket a few seconds before I got back to my car and I said hello to her and wasn't even argumentative and she tut-tutted me like some primary school principal. Ugh

They're not all bad.

But I've found that parking inspectors are like anyone with a modicum of power, but are in relatively menial employment. They tend to abuse it because it empowers them. They don't have any actual power or influence in public life, so they see their job as their opportunity to exercise what little power they have.

I know it sounds insensitive, but you see that smarmy "I don't care who you are, in this instance, I have the control" attitude all the time. Entry level public servants behind a desk (rego, licences, etc.), bouncers and general security, and parking inspectors to name a few.

Just make sure you don't go over the time limit and you should be fine. And if, by chance, you happen to be on fire, speak to the council about it, make sure to provide medical/doctors/death certificates, or a corpse, and they should waive the fine. :thumbsu:

Solid advice...

Just wait until electronic sensors come in and they are timed to the minute- I think they are coming to the city soon.

But in general I have no sympathy for people who get caught, none whatsoever. Just dont ****ing park there you morons. I was at Warf Shed at Geelong once and these idiots parked in a loading bay. And there were several other empty spots in the car park. They got done which was great to witness.

My aunty got a ticket once for being parked over the time allowance at Safeway in Moonee Ponds.

Only problem was she was at work (in another suburb) all day that day. And it wasnt a simple process getting it revoked but she did in the end I think.

Sounds like you need to get your permit up to date.

I work in a raised, second level office on a busy road where the limit is 1hr. We watch them drive up and slug punters all day. Watching people crack it at them is good. So many towings in the clearway too...its great fun.

Their job is ****ed

I'll agree the parking at Tulla airport is ****ed. Parking at Denver and Miami airports is like a dollar.

One. dollar.
It's no surprise they don't want a train to the airport. Must make a killing. I actually use it a bit and rate the service as awesome but it is exy.

Loading bay is a bit different to parking in a permit zone or a 2 hour zone. Thats just plain stupid parking there. If you saw my work car park you would understand how silly the whole thing is.
