After talking up the blues at every opportunity, what excuses will Parrot give for the blues inept showing against the cats? Just hilarious really:)

No excuses, we just had a bad night. We're a very young side, lots of raw talent, but very little experience which cost us tonight. We'll learn from that and be better for it. We're 1 and 1 after 2 rounds. We should be able to beat the Bombers again next week and make it 2 and 1. I've always predicted 2007 to be a bit of a roller-coaster for this developing young Carlton side - full of highs and lows as they gain experience and consistency. This list is loaded with talent and character, so I have no doubt they'll bounce back, and be better for the experience. :)

the thing I love about Parrot, he never takes a backwards step. Don't expect anything less other than how good the young brigade are.:)

Christ Parrot you sound awfully similar to Wallace. 3 excuses & a reason in one sentence. ;)

nice one. But should never have started this thread because I reckon he woul;d have some excuses but saw this thread and decided to say "no, no excuses" so he wouldnt look silly. I may be wrong, just like i may be wrong about Judd not being the best in teh AFL.

I wonder how parrot would go if he wasn't permitted to use the word 'talent' in his posts. I think it would cripple him, or perhaps force him to use a thesaurus.

You said you would make it 2-0 until a few hours ago.

Parrot you're made some good points but mate you're got no hope against Essendon.

A big dose of reality if you ask me. This is what happens when you get all excited about the NAB Cup and a first round win against......gasp....the tigers! Let's see how long it is before you're back on this board exaggerating the talent on your list. :) :) :) :) :) :)

The above-mentioned is not an excuse in my eyes. It is completely reasonable. People have to realise that Carlton and Hawthorn are a team full of babies. This means that they will be up and down for a while...

Out of curiosity could you please list the Hawks players with less than 50 games that played against the Lions last week and how many are to play this week?

By my count the Blues had 10 this week. As do the Hawks. Meanwhile the Tigers have had 11 in each of their first 2 rounds. I guess we can use the same reasons for our up and down performances then.

11?

What is the most important aspect is that besides Croad and Jacobs every player we fielded had less than 100 games experience.

This is what no one acknowledges and what shows that if the Hawks are there abouts this year they will annihilate everyone in years to come...

But the fact also remains that you have a number of experinced guys to come back in over the next few weeks, starting this week with the return of Crawford, Dixon and Brown (over 500 game there) plus Vanders & Smith. Which is not to dissimilar to the Tigers who should get back Brown and Simmonds next 1-2 weeks while the only other experienced players due back are Hall and Kent.

I just don't see how the 2 sides are that different then.

As much as I would like to side with you there really is a big difference.

For starters look at the bookends...

Gasper ........... Gilham
Richo ............. Roughead

If we still had Thompson and a healthy Hay at the moment they would definitely make a difference.

You guys are a young side but our best 5 players are.........

Hodge
Mitchell
Franklin
Birchall
Campbell

All less than 100 games experience and three of them less than 50 games.

Your best 5 would likely be............

Richardson
Brown
Johnson
Simmonds
Deledio
Raines/Hyde/Schultz

Three of them over 200 games??? One of 100 games.

Whichever way you look at it there is a big difference. For you guys to be compared with us you would have had to trade Richo and Gasper for picks. Not traded for Polack and Simmonds and then maybe you would be in a similar position.
