Well that was a bloody pleasant surprise. Best win this decade! And the start to that last quarter, well Bhoy oh Bhoy. Out of the middle, goal, rinse and repeat. We certainly capitalised on our clearance dominance in this game. :stern look

So why did it click? Clearly Melbourne struggled to cover the ground. We out ran them by 20km. That’s nearly a kilometre a player. And we had a shit tonne more sprint efforts. Coupled with our Clearance Dominance and effectiveness inside 50 gives you the reason why we won. :stern look

As good as we were, Melbourne were bad. They missed May big time. Our forwards ran amok. But Melbourne also miss a decent second key forward. Comben dominated in the intercept role. Unlike last week where Darcy required far closer attention, Chom was able to drift off his opponent and take numerous grabs. Sure he dropped 2 and they were costly but it was great that he bounced back and redeemed himself in the 2nd half. :stern look

Unlike the Dogs, Melbourne’s outside game isn’t as threatening. We handled defensive transition far better against a Demons line up that simply didn’t move the ball as well as the Dogs. I look forward to the Adelaide game this week. It is still our outside game that worries me and I think the Crows will test us in that area. :stern look

Hopefully this game provides the playing group the belief that they can compete with the best. But more importantly defeat the best. Hopefully this isn’t a flash in the pan and a start of an exciting new era. :testicles crossed

I stupidly have. Collingwood game last year, last week's loss... they were good bloody games and starved of wins but love watching us.
My word the Collingwood game got thrown on the ā€œnever talk about it againā€ pile. Why would you do it to yourself!!?

We were trailing Melbourne 4.5 29 to 3.9.27 at the 7-minute mark of the second quarter but from there we outscored them 16.2.98 to 5.7.37.

Last year we were the most efficient team in front of goal, and it kept us in a number of games in the second half of the year. If we can be similarly efficient this season, then perhaps it can be the difference between the number of wins and losses.

Awesome win. I told yas I had a good feeling about it. Especially with Picket and May out. Didn’t believe we would chew em up and spit them out, how good? I was thinking in the first Q after missing so many opportunities that it was going to be a typical north game, it was a blessing that godees did the same thing in the second Q, albeit leading at half time by a slim margin.

Not going to complain about any players this week, was one of the best TEAM performances I can remember.

There is one negative.. cut that kanga kanga kanga shit out, its cringe.

Mindset needs to be right going to Adelaide as confidence quickly built can quickly come crumbling down.
Too late, DY. Kanga, Kanga, Kanga has caught on BECAUSE it’s so bad… you can’t fight that…
