Call me cynical, i didn’t like that they celebrated so hard. Larkey looks hungover. Fans deserved it, they haven’t earned that yet.
Yes and no. That winning feeling needs to be bottles and enjoyed. Players also can just walk to another club... as long as it's a one off

Congratulations on the win. Feels like a changing of the guard. One club rising for great things and the other set for years in the doldrums unless they change up their ways.

I don't see any reason why you can't win 9 games this year and I'd imagine you'll utilise Marvel as a genuine home ground advantage like the Dogs do and St Kilda to a lesser extent.

Is there any reason why Marvel closes half of level 3 for many North home games? Seems odd that you have everyone cramped next to each other on one side while the other side is empty.

Believe it's so they don't have to put on more security and hospitality staff so costs go down even though it does look stupid but I could be wrong.

Are the Mariners gonna be a force this year? Who do you think will play the Dodgers in the World Series?

The last goal of the game, the one by Bailey Scott was one of my favourites.

It was so unexpected and from outside 50! We have just never taken that confidence shot in years, loved it.

The confidence to take the shot comes from that it was lower risk.

We were going to win and they all knew it so having a ping is fine.

In other games where we've been barely hanging on or we are getting done the likelihood of taking the risk would decrease.

The thing is that the more that we get in a position to do the riskier things the better we will get at them the more we will do them and the harder they will be to stop.

I watched the replay and this entire win was built on the back of pressure and a willingness to compete. There were some great highlights but all of them sit on the back of hard work. I really hope the entire group can see that is exactly how you win games of football. Hard at the man, hard at the ball and do it till they break.

It's for the TV, the broadcast is taken from one side (which is closed) so the other side (with the crowd) provides the backdrop

no escaping the corporatisation of our lives - it's good for you

The thing I loved seeing from 2 blokes, Chom & Pinky, was their resilience to keep their heads up and playing hard after making a couple of mistakes early.

This showed a level of maturity and courage, which enabled them to not go into their shells/self-preservation mode.

Because you blokes usually don't turn up to Docklands. Also to look better on TV.

It was actually our largest crowd at Docklands vs Melbourne (28,768 on Sunday) since our first ever game there against them in 2000 (30,423) - average crowd for all games NM v Melbourne at Docklands is 21,465

We've also only ever lost to them once at Docklands, our previous game in 2022 (average winning margin for all games NM v Melbourne at Docklands is 51 points)

Like what Kings said about our fans being an angry bunch (although I’d say it’s more passion than anger) - does anyone else think our crowds have been louder over the past three years than ever before? It’s like we’ve been suppressing all the emotion from every loss and turning it into such an electric, noisy energy every game. I know I’ve been desperate for them to give me something to scream about and I don’t reckon I’m the only one
Something about the hardest diamonds being forged under pressure. :thumbsu:

After watching the replay a couple of times now, one little thing that really impressed me, was the intent and effort of Chom to make a spoil with mere seconds left on the clock in the last Q, with the result well in hand, icing on a very nice cake.
Super spoil and judged it to absolute perfection. Could hear the crowd applauding that effort before the siren went.

Just wondering

Is the 6 goals in 6 minutes a record?

Probably not, just from 2024:

Fastest five-goal streaks, 2024
Sydney v Adelaide, round 14: 8:04 (3:28 game time)
Sydney v Carlton, round 10: 8:22 (4:46 game time)
Hawthorn v North Melbourne, round 6: 8:55 (5.05 game time)
Western Bulldogs v St. Kilda, round 6: 9:06 (5.30 game time)
Carlton v Brisbane, OR: 9:11 (5.10 game time)
Sydney v Geelong, round 13: 9:30 (4:49 game time)

So the exorcism of Melbourne is complete, the demons have been vanquished, father Clarkson performed it with immense clarity & never wavered once, a job well done!

I think it was gaz on 360 last night talking about a sidebottom blunder.
It’s not so much about the mistake you make but what you do next. He kicked the winning goal next.
These guys didn’t drop their heads and made some great plays. That’s what I want to see. Mistakes happen, even by the best players.

Cleaners also don't have to clean which is another cost saving measure.

Just bring that effort and intensity every week and we'll win games.
We will definitely win plenty of games this season. I was confident of that before the start of the season, and even more so now. However, what concerns me with our style of play, even if we iron out the mistakes and improve in a number of areas, it is a very taxing game plan that requires 100% effort and non stop pressure for 120 minutes. Whereas Hawthorn seems to be winning on class and smarts without seemingly exerting as much physical effort.

The thing that impressed me about Chom was his efforts to mark the ball after dropping a couple of easy marks earlier on. He could have gone into his shell but didnt...

I loved that goal too - and even more so, Clarkson's reaction. Every North fan going berserk.

The coach:

Absolute vibe about expectations and standards.

THIS!

I posted this on the Clarko thread, asking for the screenshot. His mindset is 6 months to 3 years into the future, and already planning what is going to happen next. It's like he knows what is happening now is part of the grand plan and he now needs to take the next steps in his mind and translate that into action and results on the field. That's what I saw in this one look.

I don't care what anyone else says. This is what I saw.
