We will definitely win plenty of games this season. I was confident of that before the start of the season, and even more so now. However, what concerns me with our style of play, even if we iron out the mistakes and improve in a number of areas, it is a very taxing game plan that requires 100% effort and non stop pressure for 120 minutes. Whereas Hawthorn seems to be winning on class and smarts without seemingly exerting as much physical effort.
Agree, hard to keep it up for that long, but from what I can see they are being schooled to read the game and play accordingly - on Saturday, they went for the kill when the opposition were broken; compare that to the second half of the second quarter in the praccy against WCE in Bunbury - when west coast got a run on and kicked 4 or 5, we went into a possession game to take the heat out of the contest.

When we've got momentum go hard - when the opposition have it, protect the ball.

might be wrong, but that's my reading so far

Are the Mariners gonna be a force this year? Who do you think will play the Dodgers in the World Series?
The Mariners have a tremendous pitching rotation but their ownership were too cheap to upgrade their offence. Will be borderline playoffs.

I'll go with Boston Redsox as a little bit of a smokey. Or Texas Rangers.

Anyway, good luck for the season ahead. I hope the Dees put in a much better performance in our next meeting round 18 at the G.

THIS!

I posted this on the Clarko thread, asking for the screenshot. His mindset is 6 months to 3 years into the future, and already planning what is going to happen next. It's like he knows what is happening now is part of the grand plan and he now needs to take the next steps in his mind and translate that into action and results on the field. That's what I saw in this one look.

I don't care what anyone else says. This is what I saw.
Honestly, he was just like most dads watching their sons play. Trying hard not to display too much, while feeling euphoric inside. Having said that, remember how the media went after him when he was smiling and joking on the boundary in R2, 2023, while we were beating Freo over there? I’m sure he would have been very conscious not to give them more material - spurious as that might be.

Great call Caracas. I assume you're no relation to John Caracas who I played junior footy with at St Albans back in the day?

It'll come. I think we will reach the point where that blitz comes earlier in the game and they can then control the effort over the remainder. Give it time.

100% accurate despite the clickbaity caption.

A singular data point does not a trend make.

We have worked in the theory of what we could do and be for so long. We have a proof point now and a mountain of work to prove that not only can we do it, but that we can start to do it with some form of regularity.

It is clickbaity. It's actually a very measured - and positive - take even though the title implies otherwise.

Great celebration for Darling's 300th. An awkward position given 300 games is such a rare achievement (106 players ever, North with 10 now I think counting two club players) and 298 if them were played elsewhere. Awesome to see Gaff involved and I believe Scott Lycett was there also,

Great win too. Good to see the media torching Carlton and Essendon for being middling battlers instead of shitting on North and WC again.

I've got 13: John Rantall (played game 300 at South Melbourne), Gary Dempsey, Wayne Schimmelbusch, John Blakey, Mick Martyn (played game 300 at Carlton) Glenn Archer, Shannon Grant, Adam Simpson, Brent Harvey, Nick Dal Santo, Drew Petrie, Todd Goldstein, and now Jack Darling.

I didn't have Dal Santo, Dempsey or Rantall. North are basically overrepresented 2:1 in 300 game players.

We have Hurn, Darling, Mitchell and Petrie we actually have more 300 gamers that have joined the club than players that have played 300 games for the club. There's some trivia.

And we add Luke Parker to the club in a few weeks.

Alright so my reading of the situation.
Last two occasions we get close to godees. Umpires **** us out of the game and keep swinging it godees way, especially at the G.

North does a number on them and Xerri beats Gawn and should have taken his blazer last year, gets completely overlooked by Goodwin’s comments which he didn’t want to get into saying Gawn has had some stuff going on?

Meanwhile Brad Green is looking confused during the game on the phone to only who I could imagine be Lauren Kane or Dillon.

Just look at this photo.

Parker in a North jumper, Gaff in slacks and a shirt and they’re chairing off Darling in a North jumper in game 300 and North has just scored 125 points in a 10 goal win over Melbourne.

What a total bunch of bullshit how is this not a simulation. Cooked

It’s a Select trading card from when he was chaired off . I couldn’t download the card

So being the nuffy I am, I’ve watched the game a lot.

Speaking of simulation above, it’s amazing to me that you can rewatch a game with different commentary teams. Normally I despise ch 7, BT and basically anyone associate with a ch 7 broadcast. So when I got home I watched the replay with derrrrrwayne, Gerald Healy and the rest.

I thought their commentary was way more exciting and easily pro north.

I streamed the game on 7+ and rewatched it with Ch 7’s view of the game. BT, Selwood and crywvoldt (and the other guy). What a bunch of knobs. There was basically barely a mention of north destroying the dees for the first 3 qrts. But let’s be honest, they are a bunch of knobs so what should I expect.

But some personal favourites were as follows:

Charlie COMBEN

It’s not a hard name. There is no D. There never has been. BT called him Comben once, just the once. Either side of that he called him COMDEN. No body really bothered to correct him.

This must have confused Selwood and Nicky because they then switched to Charlie CONDON at various times.

The other guy didn’t seem to have a problem but was happy not to correct 3 fellow commentators from using various names for Comben.

Interestingly not one person on the Fox commentary used anything but Comben.

Some other pieces of commentary gold from Ch 7 included

- Selwood description of our back line.

“Corr’s been in and out” ….. He has?

“Logue’s played a role” …….. He has? What prior to 2 reco’s and a 1 week
Hammy. Other than that he’s been our no 1 key back.

- Selwood on Curtis

“I really hope he doesn’t loose confidence after his mistakes”…….. don’t think you need to worry Joel.

- Joel and Nick fellating Gawn the whole game. I genuinely think if you asked them at 3qrt time who was better out of X and Gawn they would have given it to Gawn on points. It took Erin Phillips to inform them that it was 12 clearances to 3, a heap of score involvements to not many, and 1 goal v none. Seemed to take the boys by surprise.

- BT having trouble in working out which name applied to which team.

So in summary thank **** for Russel and Healy (and co). They all knew their stuff and tomahawk had his two contemporaries covered easily.
