Do the research. He was not alone as far as keeping average to poor player.
Gleeson was a good player. Just had a shocking injury run in the back half.

recycled AFL players taken in the rookie draft,

Tyson Slattery - 2008 draft, pick 47. Re-Rookied 2010
Jay Neagle - 2005 draft, pick 39, Re-Rookied 2010
Anthony Long - 2009 draft, pick 33, Re-Rookied 2011
Ariel Steinberg - 2010 draft, pick 31, Re-Rookied 2012
Shaun McKernan - journeyman, pick 14 2014 rookie draft, delisted, re-rookied 2016
Kurt Aykett - traded to Ess in 2013, re-rookied in 2014
Will Hams - 2015 Pre Season Draft, delisted, re rookie in 2016
Matt Dea - Journeyman, top up player in 2016, delisted free agent in 2017, re-rookied in 2018
Mitch Hibberd - delisted by NM end of 2018, rookied 2019
Dylan Clarke - 2016 draft, re-rookied 2020
Marty Gleeson - 2012 draft, Re-Rookied 2020

11 players who were almost guarantees to not work out before we bothered downgrading them from senior list to rookie list.

Im not talking about the Mark Baguleys, Dylan Van Unens, Pippa's but the AFL drafted guys Dodoro downgraded. He had a real penchant for doing this. Were other clubs doing it as much as us? Id highly doubt it if you can show half a dozen examples from one club

Half the research as usual.
Also not even one a year going on your 11 number.
Really big issue. Keep shouting at clouds.

no, literally all the players since 2009 who were re-rookied by us having been taken in the national draft previously
And the comparison to other clubs ?
It is a non event and no different to clubs signing players on the main list that do not work out.
You do know that going by the numbers if you get 60% of your list decisions right you are in the best clubs.
So we have rookie listed 11 blokes we shouldn’t have in 17 years. Yep real game breaker.

its the ideology they will magically come right that is frustrating.

We can both agree that the previous list manager who held onto players for too long is now no longer in charge of the list is a good thing

But as I said it is no different to say giving Harry Jones two years on the main list.
The AFL ideology is based on hope from draft to retaining players.

Dodoro was an average operator. You also have to throw in previous coaches . They where no just keeping players who they did not think could play a role.
This issue is maybe 2% of the whole list management issues.
If we did not fail the 2020-2022 drafts we are not having this thread.

we were doing that on the main list too 🤣🤣

Just analysing the ND is cherry picking.

I’ve just scanned the thread so maybe this has been mentioned, but in the same period we also got Caldwell, Durham, Martin and Peter Wright.

Perhaps, but it's still worthy of analysis and consideration, you can't build a side without drafting (you can maintain one that way, but you have to have one to maintain first).

Ok, but I think the analysis should be broader. It skews the picture to make our recruitment worse than it really was.

We simply have never nailed a draft. Hopefully the last two can be the ones, they look the goods so far.
last years looks a genuine cracker for RFK

Kako, Clarke, Johnson, ADJ and we haven't even seen Gerryn at the highest level (yet)
