Yeah I'd say he's played his last game for SD.

Bit of a troubled year for Murray, but if he can stay on the list and get past the court issues he can be a good player for the club.

Not much news lately, but should be some soon regarding Newmans position on the list. Got an unfortunate mention here regarding potential list changes.

Mark Nicoski, Andrew Embley, Adam Selwood, Brad Dick and Ashton Hams have already retired, while troubled forward Murray Newman is facing the axe after walking out on his WAFL club Swan Districts during a game earlier this year.
West Coast coach John Worsfold is likely to be granted a two-year contract extension despite the team's 13th-placed finish.

Newman cout watch!

3 day trial in December, bail continues.

Not sure if the timing is a good or bad thing, as it is after the drafts. The fact Woosh has left may also make it harder to retain his spot on the list given Woosh seemed pretty keen on his ability.

Troubled West Coast AFL player Murray Newman will face a trial in December on a charge of grievous bodily harm.
Newman, 18, was charged after an incident in November at the Library Nightclub in Northbridge's entertainment district that allegedly left a man with facial injuries so severe he needed surgery.
In the District Court today, Newman was told he would face a three-day trial beginning on December 16.
Newman had his bail renewed.
At a previous hearing, Newman was barred from entering any nightclub and not allowed on any licensed premises after 11.30pm.
Newman also posted $10,000 bail with a $10,000 surety and vowed not to contact or go within 50 metres of the alleged victim.
At the time he was charged, the Eagles said the club was "bitterly disappointed" with Newman, who played four games in his debut season for the team, kicking three goals.
His 2013 season was disastrous - starting by being beaten by 44-year-old coach John Worsfold in two 2km pre-season time-trials in the days after his arrest.
He was later given leave from the AFL club after he abruptly left a WAFL game at quarter-time without explanation while playing for Swan Districts.

Survives the first list lodgement!

No news on a new contract though but still very promising. Next lodgement is due on the 14th of November, after the delisted free agency period on the 13th.

First day back at pre season today.

Simpson says youngster Murray Newman has a clean slate in his eyes and says he has been working on his conditioning throughout the offseason

Didn't run last in the 1 k time trial either! Although there was 4 and the guy he beat is on the comeback from hip surgery.... but still, the fact he appears to be taking it serious is good.

While stand-outs are a rarity so early in the pre-season, one aspect which would have pleased the new coach was Murray Newman's appearance on the track.
The 19-year-old has tested the club's patience since being selected at pick No.23 in the 2011 national draft.
He showed glimpses of his talent with four games in his debut season before being charged with grievous bodily harm over an alleged nightclub incident, returning to pre-season unfit last season and walking out on a WAFL game mid-year.
However word from the club is Newman has been one of this off-season's most diligent trainers.
While his results in this morning's sprints were far from stellar, they represent a huge improvement.
Newman has one year remaining on his contract and may be demoted to the rookie list later this month, but Simpson he couldn't fault the young forward's attitude at the moment.
"He's got a clean slate with me," Simpson said.
"I spoke to him briefly a couple of weeks ago and mentioned exactly that.
"We'll be a little bit patient with what happens in the next few weeks and we'll make decisions as we go.
"We can't make too many plans until we find out what happens but yeah, he's a talent."

Not the best headline ever, but at least he's learnt from last off season. Not much new in there really, but just over a month until the trial.

Murray Newman has been given a clean slate under new West Coast coach Adam Simpson, and the troubled midfielder is hoping the Western Australia courts will afford him the same luxury.
Newman is facing jail time after being charged with grievous bodily harm over an incident in a Perth nightclub last year, in which the victim was left with severe facial injuries that required surgery.
The three-day trial will start on December 16.
Last November, Newman was beaten in a pair of two-kilometre time trials by then-coach John Worsfold.
Newman's career hit a new low in July when he walked out on his WAFL club Swan Districts during the opening half of their clash with Claremont.
West Coast have decided to persevere with the 19-year-old, who has one more year to run on his contract.
But even though he's back in favour at the Eagles, his future will be decided by the courts.
"He's got a clean slate with me. I spoke to him briefly a couple of weeks ago and I mentioned exactly that, " Simpson said on Wednesday.
"(His condition) is good.
"He's been at the club most days. He's got a really good attitude at the moment.
"We'll be a little bit patient with what happens in the next few weeks.
"We can't make too many plans until we find out what happens. But he's a talent."
Newman, who played four games in 2012, was part of West Coast's younger crop who appeared at the start of pre-season training on Wednesday.

Well its happened, he's off to the rookie list. Realistically it's the only option from the clubs point of view and probably the best option for Murray as he'll at least be at the club after what is a pretty ordinary 12 months.

The West Coast Eagles have de-listed young utility player Murray Newman ahead of the second AFL list lodgement deadline tomorrow.

That decision, however, does not mean Newman’s attachment to the club has ended, with the Eagles committed to select him in the rookie draft later this month.

Newman, secured with selection 23 in the 2011 National Draft, played four games in 2012, but did not add to that tally during a 2013 season that presented a number of personal hurdles. The result of some off-field issues is that Newman will face a court hearing on an assault charge in the next couple of months.

“The trial is post-draft and because of the seriousness of the offence and uncertainty around the outcome, we have had to take the step of delisting Murray, but have also pledged to support him through the process,” General Manager Football Operations Craig Vozzo said.

“While we have cut him from the primary list at this stage, we have committed to keep Murray at the club via the rookie draft.

“We have supported him through a very difficult period and will continue to do so during the challenging period ahead.”

With Newman being de-listed, the club will take four selections into next week’s National Draft – picks 11, 31, 43 and 49.

So I missed a pretty important article earlier this year with detail about the seriousness of the matter..... got to say it doesn't make Murray look great.

The written determination by liquor commission presiding member Evan Shackleton notes that Newman is alleged to have assaulted Brett Daniel Marris at the Library Nightclub at about 1.30am on November 10 last year.
The determination refers to a statement of material facts alleging Newman and Mr Marris had been arguing when Newman punched Mr Marris to the left side of his face before a fight broke out, several punches were thrown and Mr Marris received a broken jaw.

But Superintendent Migro alleged Newman’s conduct was “violent and on licenced [sic] premises, that it involved considerable force, was out of proportion to any provocation offered, and points to aspects of the case that suggest that this was not a spontaneous incident”.

Well the plan worked.

Rookied with our third and last pick in the draft today. Although there wasn't really any question about other clubs avoiding him, it's still good to have it officially done and our list finalised.
