Weight: 70 kgs

Recruited From: Pakenham

Debut: Round 15 1978 V North Melbourne

An under rated onballer from Pakenham, Russo could play in a number of positions including the wing, ruck rover or even back pocket. Russo was a fine running player and was a key link man. Russo played in the 1978 & 86 premiership teams and was in the losing grand final sides of 1984, 85 & 87. Russo missed the 83 flag because of a knee injury. Russo was traded to St Kilda at the end of the 1988 season alongside Paul Harding & "chopper" handley for the number 1 draft pick which he selected Alex McDonald.

Where is he now? Still a school teacher in Melbourne

Was a delight to watch Russo in the pre game on the wing at Princes Park just doing lane work. Such a smooth mover and never missed a target.
