DOB: 2/4/82

Height: 176 cms
Weight: 77 kgs

Games: 96
Goals: 39

Recruited From: Geelong Falcons

Debut: Round 1 2001 V Collingwood

Son of Geelong Legend David Clarke he did not follow his brother to Geelong and chose to take his chances in the draft. Clarke was an accomplished junior athlete. A half forward or winger with a slender frame. Clarke grabbed a place in the seniors at the start of 2001 and instantly adapted to senior football with his pace and endurance coming to the fore. He ended the season on a sour note with a broken collarbone sidelining him for the last 2 months of the season. Clarke lost his spot on the wing two rounds into the 2002 and spent most of the year in the VFL.

Clarke fought back to some extent playing 12 games in 2003 and had 15 games on the wing in 2004. Clarke suffered a serious achilles tendon injury at the start of 2007 and only played 2 games. He struggled to hold down a spot in 2008 and was delisted at the end of that year.

Where is he now? Assistant Coach At Richmond

Had the biggest tank of anyone, Dermott Brereton I think is was, once said "at training, players run consecutive 800m time trials with a short break in between. Most players run 1.45, 1.57, 2.13, 2.45 etc Clarke runs 1.45, 1.46, 1.46, 1.47"

Definitely a polarising player - mainly because he was the "athlete trying to be a footballer" type. Wasn't overly strong, wasn't overly skillful, but tried hard - which was always admirable.

From memory was one the guys leading the setting of new standards with regards to training and fitness, as well as work ethic at the club. A leader in non-footballing ways

Always used to kick with him at training on a Thursday night at Glenferrie. Pretty good considering I was a pretty shit kick being a 7 year old.

I remember his first game for BH development side. Was a few weeks into the season as he was still playing school footy and wasn't allowed to play the early rounds. He kicked 7 and got 40 odd playing on ball.
Had the skill and ability to play, just not at the top level. His size and shape made him a target and I suggest he was never able to reach full potential due to this.
