Re: Cleve Hughes#34:The Cleaver

i think we lose patience pretty quick with players that seemingly lack the desire to be an AFL player...unfortunately cleaver fits into that category...bloody shame as he looked to have some talent a while ago...I remember when he was kicking 3-4 a week at coburg leading up to a brief foray in the seniors, all downhill since

Re: Cleve Hughes#34:The Cleaver

i had a chat with wallace recently at sponsors function thing, he told me quote " he's f*cked, forget him " he said that cleavage suffers from depression. i asked is that since that night with polly, apparently it has got worse since then but was always an issue.

poor bastard. its a shame, i rated the cleavage.

Re: Cleve Hughes#34:The Cleaver

If it's depression don't discount its physical effect on a person, let alone an elite sportsman. It is a soul-sapping trudge just to get through an average day - if it's true depression he's afflicted with. The effect it would have on his desire and passion for ANYTHING let alone his football career could be catastrophic. Hopefully he gets all the help he needs and can kick the demons he's got off his back.

totally agree wookie. im not bagging him. i was calling for him when the cho went down. i wouldnt wish depression on anyone.

Re: Cleve Hughes#34:The Cleaver

Probably in his best interests to go home to SA. If there are no takers on a trade, delist.

Re: Cleve Hughes#34:The Cleaver

It's obvious something has been holding him back. You'd have to pretty brainless not to see he had alot going for him as a FF 12 months ago. His form at vfl and afl level over the 18 months leading up to that point was very encouraging. We looked to have have a quality young FF for the future. It's sucks cos I think we may have lost a quality forward and Hughes will miss out on being a quality player due to Depression. There's a few clowns in here who didn't even recognise he had plenty of talent and may have been our answer to FF. There were a number of great signs, but some people either missed them or just don't read the game properly. Hello Truetiger :o. You don't even believe he has depression. You are constantly celebrating his failure and happy that we have missed out on a FF

Exhibit A# - Jonothan Hay

A lot of people suffering serious depression can`t even get out of bed .

We need to let him go and i hope the club does all it can to assist him in his life

well it's a shame to hear that but I dont doubt it for a minute as MT mentions...his lead up form to that brief spell in the seniors showed genuine progress and promise of what was to come...I hope for his sake he can get back to SA and get himself together..:thumbsu:

If Wallace thinks he's gone then I say keep him. The thought of him getting on the end of a few kicks from the elite midfielder Deledio would be exciting.

If he does have depression the whole "**** him" attitude from Wallace is pretty poor form (providing that's what Wallace actually said).

Or how about we don't keep him for stupid reasons like that and delist him because he isn't a footballers bootlace?

Re: Cleve Hughes#34:The Cleaver

just another player we shouldn't get rid of yet. He needs the weights room all summer and then his final chance next year. He is 22 give him a chance and we might get lucky...he can kick at least.

.....we shouldn't be getting rid of anyone 24 and under we have enough duds over 24 to get rid of.

no word of a lie mate, that is exactly what he said. he felt pretty open with me at that stage. it was'nt until about 10 mins later he was hanging to get away from me because had started drilling him on different stuff like not playing post, playing tambling down back, playing mcmuffin and so on. hahahah he was hating me.

Re: 34 - Cleve Hughes

uh...so did he say,'he's ****ed" or "**** him" ?

Re: 15 - Kayne Pettifer

Wasn't that bad a player. Just came at the worst possible time. Good luck for the future.

He came at the right time. Which is any time at an AFL club.

He wasn't consistent.

Played well when he knew he was better than his opponent.
Soft.
Dud.
Gone.

Re: 15 - Kayne Pettifer

Petts is a pretty good forward who can kick 40-50 goals a season if he plays every game. The club dropped him to improve his second efforts and hardness. He would have got the hint after playing half the season at Coburg and will be forced to improve these parts of his game. If he comes back well from his knee and improves his game another cog then he'll be pretty handy in 2010 if Morton goes down. Definately worth keeping him :thumbsu:

I love reading your old posts ... plus we need a change at the top after 3 months :thumbsu:
