SEN mentioned it today as a possible.

Any merit with the idea?

Pat has heaps of potential but had a bad year, i haven't seen much of Karl lately.

Only want that trade if Pagan is isn't going to play Norman in 2006. Bowden is a very, very good player.

Thought i'd put up the comparison:

Karl Norman

Height 190cm
Weight: 96kg

Debut: 2003

Date of Birth: 30 May 1983

FANFILE

Tall, rangy defender who looks to be part of Carlton's long-term development. Was disciplined by the club early in the season, but fought back to win a permanent spot in defence and was awarded a National Bank's AFL Rising Star nomination. Unfortunately, a broken hand ended his season in round 16.
Games: 23, Goals: 5

Draft history: 2002 National AFL Draft 7th round selection (Carlton) No. 79 overall.

Patrick Bowden

Height 191cm
Weight: 91kg

Debut: 2001

Date of Birth: 4 August 1981

FANFILE

The promising forward continued his steady development in 2004 with a modest 27 goals in 19 games (he booted 22 goals in 17 matches in 2003), including a season high of four against the Demons in round three. Was among the side's leading marks (95) and was prepared to present himself as a target further up the field as shown by his 60 inside 50s. Not always the most consistent kick for goal, but the younger brother of Tiger Joel Bowden still has plenty of improvement in him.

DRAFT HISTORY
1999 National AFL Draft 4th round selection (Western Bulldogs) No. 58 overall.

The difference. - 2 years, 1cm, 5kg. Bowden plays mainly forward. Norman plays back.

Both seem to be need a new environment to flurish.

A win/win perhaps.

I don't know much about Bowden but if he does paly forward , I would rather keep Norman as a defender as our stocks are already quite low.

They're currently turning him into a running CHB atm like his brother.

Kicks goals when up forward. i think he kicked 10 against Geelong VFL earlier in the year.

But last half of the year they've played him at CHB and 3rd tall with quite some success.

I think he needs a new club to get his butt into gear. If he does that he'll be better than his brother.

Look I think I'd take that deal and it's got nothing to do with Norman not being a good player.

I was willing to forgive Norman his past indiscretions, however there has been another incident that has occurred recently involving a physical altercation outside the 'Dallas Bar' on the night of the Sydney/St.Kilda Preliminary Final.

Patrick Bowden has a huge upside as a defender and I'd love to have him as a future third-tall option.

i think carlton would really lose out there, bowden has no endurance and hasnt been able to develop it in all these years, norman has some great ability to fill a role in your already shakey defence. bowden along with whitnall, fev and waite would just get in the way.

:D

Trust me, Bowden is a ******* with a heart the size of a pea.

As for the trade i would rather flog him of to someone and try to get a 3rd rounder for him. Certainly don't wont Norman, he isn't much chop either

He's a defender now. Played the majority of the year in the VFL at CHB.

I'd be happy with Norman over Bowden.

Bowden is a hack, he's had 100 chances and blown them all.

Any team would be very silly to be fooled into getting him.
