They would need to find minimum 1 first round, quite possibly 2.

I would be surprised if AFL let West Coast trade either 2021 or 2022 first rounders.
Must be impossible.

You're very fond of fake certainty, aren't you? As though saying it and pretending to be certain about it makes you an expert. When in fact most of what you're saying is contingent on unknowns.

Why don't you just keep your powder dry instead of pretending to know in advance when you don't? Are you that deeply in love with your own bullshit?

You have no idea what WC can or can't do re a deal, your guessing as all the rest here are and as for Freo moving any of those 3 IMO your absolutely dreaming.

Of course I know what West Coast CAN do. We know what players they have on their list, and we also know how many picks they have in each round, and we know that they can not trade either their 2021 or 2022 first round pick without bringing in another first round pick to replace it (because AFL rules).

The sum of those things are West Coast's entire trade capital, and it is not particularly attractive in a scenario where Carlton match a FA deal for Patrick Cripps and force West Coast to the trade table.

Says the guy who thinks playing Josh Kennedy, Jack Darling, Oscar Allen, Bailey Williams and Nic Naitanui in the same team isn't too tall.

Jog on, noob.

These guys are yet to put together a decent string of games, not arguing they wont make it, but as of now they are steak knives material, we are talking Cripps.

All three are borderline best 25 when fit.

By the end of this season I expect all three to be locked in best 25.

Williams IMO will become the most valued. Big FF who can ruck don't grow on tree's. Look what Hickey just got us at the trade table, a future 2nd.

I expect with a half decent 2021 all three would each land min a 2nd rounder if traded. That is not steak knives.

Love your optimism .... Williams has more upside than the other two combined, both of whom debuted in 2018. Geelong didnt want Brander in the Kelly deal. The rumoured interest in Pech has come to nought.

If Geelong didn't want Brander why did the Eagles come out and say 'no way is Brander involved in the Kelly deal'?

Petch had a injury interrupted 2020. Was always a 3-4 year project since he converted to AFL late.

We signed Petch on a 3 year deal as he wanted more $$ but we couldn't do that so added a 3rd year as security instead. Hopefully Willie is back in 2022 and Petch, J Cameron and Winder together with Ryan and Langdon our small forward stocks will be bloody hard to break into. All he needs is several standout games like in 2019 and the interest will come for him.

You also had Crown (sponsor) tip in some cash to him for token appearances promoting the Merrywell and arranged for Seven (sponsor) to promote Crown's venture during prime time news.

It's smart business.

You don't need to defend it, it speaks for itself.

Just like Nic Nat being spliced into the last second of the Hungry Jacks (sponsor) advert after he signed an extension to pad it out.

Nic will continue earning big $$ post retirement from his marketing activities. Likely more than he is currently allowed to under the AFL caps on marketing.

He would be close to if not the most marketable AFL player in the game.

I've posted elsewhere it isn't difficult to reward players outside the cap. Investments that involve other semi related parties that produce excellent returns. You couple up a player with an investor and they go purchase a Hungry Jacks franchise somewhere. The player turns up there six times a year to sign autographs and so they get an extra 10% of the profit split, 60 - 40 instead of 50 / 50.

Getting involved in property development is another easy one. Get land at a discount. Get something built at a discount. Get it rented at a premium. As soon as you retire sell up and make even more.

All because of who your club knows.

Simmo now the Co-franchisee of a Perth store. FWIW - Some won't like it, but very good business by the Eagles. Clearly done now to help manage the cuts to the Footy Dept. cap

He’s reportedly on $600k this year, if he continues to develop like he did in 2020 then by the end of the season anything up to $800k is not unrealistic. If freo make the finals and win one, he will likely stay for less, but that’s not guaranteed.
If he “develops” like this year then he’ll be getting offers for less than 600k a year

Cant stop people investing in profitable businesses.

Its who you know not what you know.

That applies to anyone and everyone.

If it isnt purchasing a pub in Geelong for $1 it will be making profits by developing property with a building company who supports your club.

Another Cripps rumour of going back to WA...yawn.
I've heard nothing but the complete opposite - he loves living in Melbourne.
The issue is with his long term girlfriend, who has apparently made the decision to move to WA to be with her family, as she is battling a very severe OCD illness. The 'Carlton missing finals' is a smokescreen. It has nothing to do with his loyalty at Carlton. The question is, will Cripps follow her back?

IMO he will request a trade back to WA at the end of this coming season, but will also accept that if a deal cant be done, he'll stay at the blues, dealing with the inconvenience of having to travel interstate on occasion to see his girlfriend (or vice versa). If Freo or WCE want him, they will have to overpay.

Yeah ‘twas on radio again yesterday, the missus is back here now in the land of liberty
Another Carlton mediocre season will be the coup de grace
Fyfe and Cripps would have had a long chat at the WA Brownlow together
And the Eagles are a flagship club
