I think that since the thread was created, a fair bit has changed. Pendles has struggled with injury while Danger has gone from strength to strength.

Pendles is a player that oozes class. Danger is a crash-and-bash, burst from the pack specialist whom when is on, which is most weeks, impacts games like few others ever have.

I think given there's three years between them, with Pendles nearing the end, it's safe to say that Danger's peak has been higher than Pendles' peak.

I'm not sure if Pendles will get back to his best; quite frankly, I think moving forward Treloar will be the Pies' best mid if he isn't already considered that.

Danger is one rung above Treloar and doesn't look like slowing down just yet. It will be interesting to see how Danger copes once his body starts ageing a little.

If Danger has a huge finals and continues on the way he's playing for the next few years, there'll be little debate as to whom is better by the time both have retired.

So, Danger for mine and comfortably so.
End of next year Treloar will sit in behind Pendlebury DeGoey and Adams

Very different players but Danger has a bit on Pendles, better comparison would be Pendles v Selwood.
Poll was made a couple years back, Pendles rightly ahead I believe.

Anyways, Danger>Pendles ATM obviously, but career wise hard to split probably Pendles still but Danger would only have to have another season or two at the top for that to change.

Pendles has never had a 'career' year, there have been times when he was clearly the best mid in the comp only to be slowed up by an injury (most of whom he has played through), so IMO he's been a bit unlucky, could've easily won a Brownlow or 2, but as it stands now he isn't going to get any better so the bird has probably flown on his Brownlow chances.

Yeah but the consistency over such a long time needs to be taken into consideration, Danger has only been arguably a top 3 mid for roughly 3 years. Needs to continue to do what he does.

The guy who spends time as the #1 player in the comp tends to win out against consistent top 10 players. Even if they aren't up the top for as long.
Pendlebury will be remembered in the same vein as guys like Simon Black or Ben Cousins (minus off-field issues). Dangerfield is likely to be in the company of Judd and Goodes and those era defining players. Dangerfield is even still a chance to catch GAJ if he can keep up his current level for about 3-4 more years.

No way will he be remembered as much as those players. Maybe as much as Garry Hocking.

when was these years pendles was clearly the best mid in the comp? have you heard of gary ablett? then came fyfe and mitchell. then came dangerfield and now martin. Pendle was never close to the best mid. There was hardly a stage where he was even better then selwood.

Ha, how?

He can hardly "dominate the comp", considering he wasn't even Collingwoods best player.
He still hasn't stepped out of Swannys shadow.
Swan and Pendlebury were two of the top 5-10 midfielders in the league from 2010-2013. 2014 was when Swan declined and Pendles jumped into the top couple and didn't leave until arguably this year. Pendlebury is a generational midfielder and his consistency eclipses Swan.

Pendlebury was the league's best player in 2011.

Wonder how many who voted early 2016 for Pendles would change their minds. I suspect most would.

And Danger will never win a premiership.

Fun fact - Pendles has less clangers in his 17 finals (35) than Danger has in 10 (41).
Fun fact - Dangerfield has as many goals in his last 5 finals (7) as Pendles has in his 17 finals.
Arbitrary facts are pointless facts is the take home message.

Pendlebury will never reach Dangers level. But he's still a good player. Highly overrated though

2010 maybe not but he was easily in the top 5.

2011 he was top 3 along with Chris Judd and Dane Swan.

2012 he was arguably second best if not best in the comp prior to his leg injury mid season.

2013 he was 4th behind Ablett, Selwood and Swan.

2014 and 2015 he's slipped a little but Xender Discord Omegle still in the top 10 easily in both years.
Pendlebury on the other hand has fallen off the radar since Collingwood's decline, up until recently he was rated as one of if not the best player in the AFL, now he isn't spoken about as much when Brownlow discussions arise.
