Who would want to lose either of them, they're both excellent young players?

However, I think Dangerfield is the kind of player you can build a premiership on, whereas Gibbs is the type of player that would top off a premiership side.
Gibbs reminds me of a footballer call Phil Kelly was a state champion but was a good footballer but not really like a Matthews or Ricciuto. The type who would win a brownlow one day but Dangerfield would probably not because of the way he plays but more likely win flags for you.

Dangerfield will be one of the better players in the comp in years to come IMO.

Gibbs could learn a thing or two about attacking the football from this bloke.

That's because you're an idiot and a troll.

Have to agree here...in deference to longevity maybe just the idiot part, not a troll.

Have a quick look back at the number of outstanding games Gibbs has played as a 19 and 20 year old (hint: you'll probably need to slip your socks off as it is a number much greater than ten). Can't believe how many on here are willing to sell the farm based on a 20 year old having a bit of a flat patch.

We've got a kid who can regularly play high 30 posession games, make the vast majority of those touches count, be creative, attacking, inspiring, and when his mind is on the job do the defensive things as well. Potentially a midfielder of Hird like qualities. What the **** are you people smoking?

Dangerfield has had one cracking game this year, and looked good in isolated patches in other matches. His attack on the footy is admirable but hasn't shown himself to be anywhere near Gibbs class.

Seriously, are you 12? Talk about a baby... do you realise how childish is to call me a troll? Do you really think it bears any offence whatsoever? On the scale of insults, it's like poking your tongue out at someone in the schoolyard... you might as well spell it 'twoll'. Loser.

You can't teach people to attack the ball like Danger does, it is either something you have or you don't.

Danger is an exiting prospect who is getting a fair amount of press for an interstate player, which should go some way to show just how much people think of him. He has stated that he loves it in Adelaide and would love to captain our club, the club and our supporters love him to bits. There is no way our club would openly trade him, but if he said he wanted to be traded then it would be different. We would probably ask for Gibbs, even though they are different types of players and at this stage that would be a bit rich.

Seriously, what do you have against the guy? Because it certainly seems you are the outlier in this debate.
I'm another that isn't all that keen on Dangerfield. Love his courage but I see him drop too many marks, shank too many kicks and not have as great an influence on the game as others seem to think he does. I certainly wouldn't trade any of our good players for him.

He is getting press because he is out of contract, he is a victorian who may want to come home and clubs will be looking at trading more vigorously next year because of the compromised draft

Interesting reading many of these comments, those who don't rate him, fair enough. And to those who think you'll just get him coz he's from victoria, have a bit of a look at our crop of youngsters, including KPP's Tippet, Walker, Davis, Henderson, Otten, and other young prospects like Sloane, Armstrong, Petrenko, McKay, Vince, and you might begin to see why he would have rocks in his head to go anywhere, and he has said he's staying a few times lately. Good luck in trying. ;)

(Like the bit here at 1:23. ;) )

Meh, Gibbs and Dangerfield are probably at the top of their respective clubs "keep at all costs" lists. Both are young, high draft picks and mentioned as future captains of their clubs. Both will also be on some pretty significant coin when they sign their next contracts.

Journos are always sprouting crap about players returning home but in reality how often does it happen?

Neither will be going anywhere, barring an Aker style fallout (almost certainly won't happen).

We should do everything to get him.He will be the best player in the comp in a few years. His a tough player we need that we don't have and is all skills.Trade our first pick,Walker and Hampson for him do it man. Those guys may come good but they can be covered. The first pick would likely be a ok midfielder at best.

We had our chance to draft him in the 07 draft

Nice miss.

Gibbs kicked the goal after receiving the ball in the centre square and running in to nail it from 35 on the run.

I prefer a player who can kick and dodge players...

No one else would be an obvious candadate that we would want in this hypothetical and would want to go, thats why they talk about Gibbs!

On DangerField, his goal in the 3rd quarter in rnd 15 was so chris Judd except.....Dangerfield can walk up to a player, look him in the eye and say that balls mine and the player will then go change his shorts, where as if Chris Judd did the same he'd get asked "what are you on right now" followed by bruce lee impersonations and laughter!

Gee interesting post. I didn't put up those vids to say he's better than Gibbs. I put them up for anyone who hadn't seen a lot of Dangerfield, as judging by many of these comments, a lot haven't. That was all. Hope you feel better by posting all those though. ;)

Don't care champ.

We won't get Dangerfield.

And I wouldn't swap Gibbs for him.

starchamber wants Mitch Thorp, so you're probably on the same wave length as him.

That would work because it wouldn't rely on an Adelaide player asking for Dangerfield to kick it to him

Kreuzer is that good, he can hit ODN on the chest behind the goals.

:thumbsu: :D

There's a player who will be one of the best five players in the AFL.

Every team in the league would love Dangerfield.

Having said that I certainly wouldn't give up Gibbs to get him.

Gibbs is in a form slump but is still a gun and could very easily develop into one of the best players in the competition.

He'd cost far more than we'd be willing to give up.

No thanks.

He is just what we need.

Hard hitting midfielder, leading half forward, elite pace, aggression, confidence.

Don't we can get any kind of suitable deal done.
