We actually looked to have a better structure when he came on. An extra mid to rotations in warm weather, whilst jezza Howe seamlessly covered for the loss of Murphy.

Played very well and a deserving premiership player. I reckon he only left the Dogs because he was starved of opportunity after the arrival of Treloar. The irony is delicious.

May have been beneficial. We were having no trouble covering the Lions talls - 5 marks inside 50 all game, so the extra taller defender was not needed. Having the extra runner was probably a better mix.

Somewhat similar to Pods getting injured for Geelong in 2011.

Murphy was comfortably in our best 4 players on the ground until going off, patrolled the half back with authority and was pretty much the main reason Brions' goals up to that point were pure arse.

I know he has his weaknesses . But he is generally a good kick forward and can find a player. Thought he had a much better game thna the prelim!! Towards end of prelim he came good and was himself

All players need that pre-season to create a foundation for the year ahead. Lippa will benefit from a solid training block and return stronger in '24.

He should now have complete confidence that his shoulder won't be a problem.
I expect him to go to another level next year.
