I wouldn’t care if lippy was an élite skill full handler and finisher but the fact that he’s so bruise free on top of the these things makes him a complete liability who should be replaced

Agree, I think if he was getting 30 disp outside breaking lines hitting up multiple inside 50s and a goal kicker as a outside type you'd accept it.

Imo he's not damaging enough regularly enough to make up for his pure outside game.

From day 1 Lipinski has been a solid, occasionally outstanding, player for Collingwood. I have never understood the criticism he is subjected to. Perhaps he will be like John Noble - only appreciated when he is gone.

I agree - some seem to focus on his weaknesses (which I'm sure he is working on), rather than what he is good at.

He's purely a role player so we don't always see the full picture. My only gripe is his lack of pace.

It's bad marketing. If you're going to be a role player you can't be Country Road - he needs a bogan haircut and tatts and to ocassionally whack someone.

Way too good looking for a role player. He should be the centerpiece of our entire side with those looks.

I’m not sure we’ve seen the best of Patti, have a feeling something will drop with him and we will see a better version this year. He has been very serviceable but I feel he has another level or two in him.

Could be wrong
I think Patti will go up a level this year also. Age, preparation, role, it is all before him this year

He can be a whipping boy at times but he has had a pretty good season so far and was sensational tonight.

One of his better games but could have been even better if he finished off his hard work.

But more games like this and we will all be happy.

Patrick Lipinski = 2020's Ryan Lonie.

Both have physical attributes to be anything, but also both are soft.

If I were coach, and I am not, I would pair him up with Brayden. Patrick on one side and Brayden on the other. Throw the ball in between and the objective is to 'WIN' it and dish it out to a teammate. Repeat until Patrick learns what it is required.

I know many will disagre with me and think this is harsh. Please watch him when there is a contest, he shirks it so many times, he undoes all the skilful work by letting the opposition win the ball easily and run away with it.

He would NOT get a game at Hawthorn under Mitchell until he demonstrated consistently the ability to win contested ball and dish it off.

You can't have 90% of the team doing it and 10% pulling out of contests, preserving their 'good looks'.

Think of sides who dominated for multiple premierships in the last 25 years; Brisbane, Hawthorn, Richmond, Geelong.

Which of them, if any, had a Patrick Lipinski in their side? Please don't use examples like Steve Johnson or Jason Akermanis as both were consistently much better offensively than Pat.

Patty, like Hyphen, is one of these players who seems to attract an undue level of opprobium.
Most people now recognise Will's value, and hopefully the same will happen with Lippa.
As an example, his handball to Bobby that led to our first goal last night was a gem.
He's not a hard nut, but the quality of his disposal is a big plus.

Hawks have ginni. Though unlike lippa he will get dropped soon
