Poor Lippa. That was a huge hit.
But his kicking inside 50 was elite tonight. Its what he does best.
At least there is the bye so he'll only miss the one game.
It's literally the only thing he contributes, but he is in the elite of the elite at it.

It's a real conundrum. If he can be fed clean ball on the outside with some space, he will hit a target inside 50 like no one else can. It is the rest of the game - i.e. any occasion that he needs to show any sort of physical or defensive presence - that he is not up to standard.

So the question is - is it worth the downside to get access to the upside?

The blues would kill for lippa and his kicking

probably hesitating due to his shoulder injuries either that or he's WHE 2.0 who had one awesome year kind of cruised around ever since

I think this is where his undervalued. Defensive presence. he is a massive part of our defensive system which means he doesn't have to be a bull it's about forcing the opponent to go where they don't want to go, by virtue him remaining disciplined makes him a huge defensive presence

he will take Hyphen's spot as the plug and play utility i think

without hijacking the lipinski chat, hyphen is an interesting one because his almost insurance for in game injuries eg) if two key defenders go down he can play down back, ditto in the fwd line and midfield. so whilst he doesn't hold his spot in a single position his elite at multi position. probably only second behind Crisp

just frustrating he's so in and out of games because when we do see Hyphen he is very good but sometimes has a invisibility cloak on at times

yeah without doubt. in a perfect world assuming every player is fit and healthy to have WHE, Mitchell and Markov as emergencies ( 3 premiership Players ) shows the depth we have

I think it was a dirty hit by Meek, he had no chance of spoiling the ball without giving away a free. IMO his intent was to run through Lipinski more than to spoil ball and thats exactly what he did in the end
I hope Meek gets a couple, but wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't.

Blokes seem to be able to clock our guys in the head & get off, ala Lobb v Cox.

I said for the Cox one Lobb was trying to spoil ball and had eyes for ball and shouldnt be suspended.. this one is different his intent was to run through Lipinski

i don't think there was malice in it but it was a late hit so Meek gets 2 weeks off hopefully

Maybe I should have phrased it differently then. What you are talking about is that you think that defensively he takes up space on a wing and therefore the opposition doesn't feel like that is available territory because there is a black and white striped jumper there. On this point, you are possibly right.

What I meant was when the ball is out there, he doesn't really presents as a tackle threat, and is so slow that the opposition can get the ball and run away from him (or even easily run past and around him).

Pendles is slow due to his age and injuries and has never been fast but Lippa has always been glacially slow

too many collingwood haters in the world
Just inconsistency & lack of clarity.

For example, I thought it was great Pearce got off, common sense prevailed. But I'm sure a few players who have been suspended for pure footy acts &/or accidents which resulted in concussion for the opponent feel a bit hard done by.

Great call - he owns that flank defensively, is great at getting from spot to spot in our defensive zone and choking up the opposition. He is frequently there

screams a flanker who thrived once being turned into a defender i can see Lippa as a Howe replacement perhaps (in the back pocket flank third tall role not as a legitimate key defender)

I can’t tell if this is for real. Have you ever, in your life, seen Lippa take an overhead
