Player Watch Patrick Lipinski

I've been bagging him for years. He's put in 4 consecutive above average shifts and last night's display of laser passing was elite. I may have seen the light on Lippa.
It’s ok to say you were wrrr rrr

Glad he’s finally getting his flowers. He has flaws, but he’s a very handy (autocorrect changed that to handsome) player for us.
Jen might say that autocorrect was correct.
All players have flaws, with the possible exception of Nick.

I was wrong. My apologies to Patrick Lapinski. I never really rated him that much but his GF performance where he was sub and called in earlier than expected and his performances this year reveal a skilled player well beyond what I thought he was capable of. Aided and abetted by post surgical shoulders!

Was going at 50% of inside 50 kicks being marked before Friday night, and then went 4 from 4 on the night. It's a pretty good weapon to have - even if it is his only one.

Way to wrap a compliment in a sledgehammer.

Kicking is a rather important skill in football

Wait - you are agreeing with me right? Because I just said it is an awesome weapon to have, and he seems to be the best in the game with it right now.
Thats why hes in the side and wont be out of it for the foreseeable future. Flaws and all. Hitting up F50 targets like a laser is like gold

To an extent, but I don't think it's his "only" strength. His positioning and reading of the game are both strong aspects

Fair enough. I don't think 'positioning' is something that he is demonstrably better at than everyone else in the comp (and in my opinion not of all that high a value if it doesn't lead to a possession or a tackle / impacted contest). I probably feel similar about 'reading of the game' - it is hard to actually measure I think.

But retained inside 50 kicks is simple to measure, and something that he is head and shoulders above others in the comp right now.

He has many strengths. The "doesn't put his head over the ball" brigade never quit though. Oppo supporters still question Nick even though he averages double figure contested possessions

It's truly bizarre that some people think all players would have all the same strengths & weaknesses.

Lippa is seriously slow but you wouldn't know it. He's one of the only players going around that can absorb that and still be a super effective player. I don't know how he does it but long may it continue

It's not necessarily quantifiable, but I don't think it's a coincidence that Lipinski continues to be the one who receives the footy in positions to execute damaging attacking kicks time and again

Another fine player we extracted from another club for a bargain. Cameron and Hill in the same category. And just quietly - all are premiership players.

We might pay through the nose occasionally - arguably Shoota at the end of 2023 (although surely that debate is dead) and Perryman at the end of 2024 - but we get it coming back the other way.

Yeah, we definitely know it. Extremely slow.

The fact that he is a near lock best 22 is due to his one wood of kicking inside 50, and probably in second part to the ground he covers.

Apparently they do, yes.
Actually I think you are right that there are people who think this.

For example, if someone says that Lippa is not physical or not fast, then these people get defensive. When in reality, he isn't physical or fast, but yet doesn't need to be.
