Lets wait and and see how he goes in 2022. I think we could all be surprised at what he can bring to our team. He is fit, driven and aiming to improve in all aspects. The rest is up to him.

Treloar is a very different player - a one trick pony if you like - line breaking speed is his game. The dogs obviously wanted a speed boost.

As for Libba, you are talking a very senior and decorated player - in no instance could you compare the two.

Like you I hope and expect he will make it in one guise or another.

Don't forget that Treloar was also squeezed out to the wing and half forward even for the first final when he was criticised for his attitude / performance.

As was Dunkley at different times through the year. Only highlights that the Doggies were willing to use alternate midfield options. Lipinski still struggled to gain those opportunities. Can’t interpret that any other way than him being very fringe for midfield rotations.

Also highlights how deep their midfield is. Dunkley would arguably be our best mid if he was on our list and he didn't crack much midfield time for them. Like you I'm a skeptic on Lipinski, as I am on most young players who are yet to put any runs on the board.

Thought he would have some runs on the board why else would we push hard for him? obviously those in the "know" have the right amount of intel not just what they see on the field, also, who would you have dropped with poor form in the Dogs side for Lippa to jump back in?

I think he looks like a good prospect and do expect him to start and hopefully remain best 22. But in terms of the bolded, recruits chosen by those in the know fail all the time. Without looking at it beyond the vibe, I'd suggest that fringe players who transfer clubs due to being recruited by those in the "know' have a 50/50 hit rate at best.
 
What I like is how driven he is to improve, the fitter he is, the more impactful he can be. Whether thats because he wants to prove a point to himself or to his old club, either way, he is doing everything possible to make the right decisions and impression.
To prove he can actually play and make an impact

Think you are being overly pessimistic. Doggies had a stacked midfield. Wallace is a decent footballer and he couldn’t get a game either. Also consider that the doggies reportedly offered him a 3 yr deal so they must rate him fairly highly.

He probably will not be a superstar, but I would not be surprised if he easily becomes best 22 each week. For what we paid for him that is a reasonable outcome. Don’t think you should expect Pendles quality.

He was before they got Treloar. He's a good player, but he's not on the same level as Bontempelli, Macrae, Libba, Treloar or Dunkley. He can be a good player without being able to get into that midfield.

Better ball user and kick than Treloar.
 
I think we have a really great prospect with Lipinski but we shouldn't get overly carried away just yet, he was a fringe player at a Club we want to be better than. He looks to have some real upside and hopefully the opportunity brings the best out of him.

I'm cautiously optimistic and really looking to see how this guy develops. He looks like he wants it and the door is wide open for him to step through.
 
Great endurance and fitness too. He just completed a 3hr training session and not puffed. Looked like he could go for another 3hrs [emoji23]

Unlike Sier who would take 5hrs to complete a 3hr training session.

I’m not disputing the depth of their midfield but Wallis only played 6 games this year due to injury and his midfield days ended a couple of seasons ago.

Lipinski managed 11/26 games this year, 2 of them as a sub, and only a couple through the midfield. He hasn’t even been getting/demanding the games at HF like Dunkley did. Even last year when they didn’t have Treloar and Libba missed some of the season with a knee, Jong hardly got on the park, he only played 13 and I doubt many in the midfield.

I actually think I’m being realistic. I remain hopeful 2022 will be his breakout year, but history suggests a continuation of the norm is the more likely outcome.
