True but his point was that those guys (aside from Pendles this year) didn’t play half-back, whereas Nick does, and so he must play it like Howe or he’s overrated.

IMHO we’re essentially playing him at HB fully knowing his limitations, but confident that what he provides far outweighs anything it might cost. He’s bringing 380 meters gained, 4.9 SI’s, 2.6 I50’s, 3.7 R50’s, 4.9 ITC’s, and about 73% kicking efficiency a game. Statistically, he’s delivering just shy of what Adam Saad is offering this year minus the contested mark he takes every 2nd game, and he’s a 1st year player.

Yeah, which is in itself stupid.

Andrew McLeod took 0 contested marks as a flanker (both ends) until his 80th game. He went alright

One of my all-time favourite non-Pie players. Beautiful to watch.

Good skills, can accumulate and link up really well and tidy in front of the sticks. Contested ball is up and down but generally wins enough, although you wouldn’t want to be relying too much on his clearance work. Not flash defensively. Might struggle against good midfields in finals heat. Great kid and very happy that he’s playing well.

Thought he was good today, among our best players probably and not sure why there’s discussion about dropping him against Bombers.

Though I’d like to see him add grunt to his game and attack the ball more aggressively. He’s not actually soft, but he just needs to back himself more when moving in traffic. I’m sure experience and more strength and core training and he’ll get some confidence under his belt in regards to shaking off tackles. He’s not scared I don’t think, it’s just confidence. He’ll be right.

Seems to be a very polarising player already ... I didn't love his game today and was very surprised to see he laid 12 tackles. He does seem to be involved in a lot of scoring chains and does kick goals but his decision making is worse than I thought it'd be and his lack of speed and physical intensity can cost us at times.

Starting to think if everybody's fit I'd be leaning towards playing Carmichael instead of him, especially as we keep struggling to get it out of the middle.

My knock on him is that he fumbles too much, is a poor decision maker and tends to hold up forward movement when he marks the ball. In the absence of a better midfielder he is starting 22 as he gets to the ball and stays in the contest.

I don’t want him starting in the centre square , he is a liability with the space they get and the lack of leg speed he has. Start him at half forward and float through the middle after the bounce. Too many times opposition stream out of the midfield against us at the bounce.

Had 13 tackles according to the AFL app. Goes with his equal 2nd pressure acts.

I'd hate to be a selector this week with IQ and Adams likely back for the Bombers, JDG and Grundy shortly after.

His defensive stats always surprise me. When watching the game live he just doesn't seem to apply anywhere near that much pressure. I'll watch the replay and keep more of an eye on him than usual.

Yes, if everyone can stay fit we've definitely got some selection pressure which is great. I don't think Lipinski should be a lock in the team at this stage, despite the stats suggesting otherwise.

Just quietly I think I can recall him taking a few prior to that... 1999 marked the start of the recording of contested marks, and a host of other metrics, when Champion Data became the official AFL partner ;)
