Looks like he has had some surgery on his shoulder. Not surprising, he had strapping on it for most of the season.

Hopefully just a cleanout and doesn't hamper his pre-season

Always going to be some cleaning up after such a long and physical season

Started on fire but the rest of the H/A season was fairly patchy.

But

really liked what I saw from him in the finals, felt like he realised he's one of our main cogs and needs to lead by example.

His season was far from patchy… in fact it was the complete opposite. He had one down game after a great first few games…. and was a consistent performer after that all year, and even better in the finals.

Even he said the team started to be a low possession, high impact, so he or anyone wouldn't be getting high numbers to have impact. Keep him mind he played that high forward role.

Checkers is currently in hospital for full body surgery and limb replacement.

At least he has stock photo model as a fallback job once his playing days are over.

Probably the first time Checkers and model have been mentioned in the same sentence.

He played with it for 3 months and still came 6th in the copeland.

'It is understood that the 24-year-old aggravated his shoulder in July and played through the issue in the closing three months of the season, making his first season in black and white even more impressive. "

I knew something must have happened when he started to wear strapping.

I am glad he is getting it done early nothing worse I think than hoping rest will do it and then finding later it has to be done, and then impacting pre season.

Very good for the Pies last year and we need him to be so again this season.
Yes, both he and Bruzzy - much better to get it done now.
They'll be fully recovered well before next season.
IIRC we had someone who waited & had surgery in January & missed the early part of the season.

roughy

He’s a great finisher but those highlights don’t do his season justice, his ball use, especially kicks inside 50 and into the corridor helped out immensely.

Vastly underrated player both here on this board and at his former club.

Composed and committed.

And during the season, some people werent happy unless he was getting 30 and kicking 2 goals lol Even when it became clear we were a low possession team. Quality over quantity.

You know what's it like here Jen some people just get a hate on for a player and they never let it go.

The vitriol directed at umpires, commentators, opposition supporters and players is disappointing.
As for the umpires - they are only the instruments of the AFL's will.

Commentators made their own beds when they stopped commentating and started editorializing.

Opposition supporters in this forum are guests and either behave accordingly or should get ejected.

Players are the stalking goats sadly.

But above and beyond all are the truly contemptible.

The AFL.

The media barons.

The betting corporations.

This 'unholy trinity' is responsible for the slow motion train wreck that is Australian rules football - which they have engineered to change from a professional sport into a rigged 'entertainment' - scheduled to create the maximum profit and wrenched out of the hands of clubs and supporters for the benefit of the few.

I've always thought you don't count your possessions, you make your possessions count, and he did that,he uses it well and he's a good finisher and does the team things and runs and works hard, pretty good trade for a pick in the 40's.

Disappointed he could miss the first half of the season… [emoji24]
