Were we a little hasty in giving this guy the flick after one year on the rookie list? He looks to be kicking plenty of goals for Port Melbourne this year, and I think he would have possibly been a better option than DJ in our line up.

Is anyone aware why he wasn't given another year as a Rookie (was it attitude problems?).

He'll probably get a go somewhere next year and make the Doggies regret not keeping him.

agree.
Cannot understand why he wasn't given more of a go (or at the very least rookied for another year). Was a fan of him at Willi and thought he showed good goal sense and a good kick.

PS: Does anybody know what evet happened to Guy O'Keefe? Was surprised he didn't go further either.

He wasn't given another shot beacuse he wasn't good enough for AFL.

The Dogs set some criteria for Rose and he needed to be able to rotate through the midfield as most small forwards now do.

He did enough in the early stages with testing to get the rookie contract, but was very poor at Willi until allowed to revert solely to the small forward. There is not enough work rate to cut it at the top level.

I fear that Veszpremi has the same issue.

How did Hooper get a guernsey then, he also doesn't seem to have the engine to play midfield.

I hope he goes elsewhere and gets the opportunity be a forward. I don't understand why a player can't play a whole game in a forward pocket?

Il tell ya me and Gary were thrilled when he went to the borough! Ayres loves his work rate and that he knows how to get the ball. Great get by Port Melbourne!

?
Hasn't effected, LeCras, Stevie Milne's and Ballantyne's careers.......

Rose is a very good player at VFL level. And I reckon he could make it in the AFL. I would have loved us to give him a game or 2 last year to see how he went. But I suspect it was his inability to be really impact as a midfielder that hurt him with us...but who knows.

We can't win them all you know.
