Ryder definitely has more talent, he'll be the better footballer. Brown will be the better defender though - in terms of being a stopper. I think one day he will be the best full-back in the league.

Ryder. Nathan Brown is this years over rated Collingwood youngster. Every year its a new on. Who will be next? Anthony? Dawes? Cook?
Collingwood youngsters are rubbish compared to even Essendons

please tell me your joking?

if you dont mind you might want to have a look at the sort of players we had playing late this year and late last year. very inexperienced side that led the club into 3rd and 2nd week of the finals.

alot more than what your mob has done in a decade.

I really can't see how so many people rate Ryder so highly. They call him a future champion defender yet whenever I watch him he looks nervous and gets slaughtered every time. Plus the Bombers have the weakest defense in the league. Didn't anyone see him against Buddy?

Your comment right there proves you have seen little of Ryder. I'm surprised given he had such a great game against the Tigers later on in the season.

Composure is one of Ryder's strengths, he NEVER panicks.

Yeah, Buddy towelled him up, but then again Paddy was left one out with him for the whole match. When you lose the midfield battle it virtually makes it impossible to stop Franklin.

I personally think Ryder is wasted in the backline. His strength is creating play imo, not negating it.

He'd make an epic ruckman.

If it wasn't for a lack of young Essendon KPD atm....

Your right I don't see much of him but he always has a worried look on his face and seems to get spanked whenever I do see him. I'm yet to see what the fuss is about.

Agree with you Smiddaz. While Essendon have groomed him into a KPB he would be so much more valuable up around the middle of the ground using his X factor and creating play. While I would probably pick brown as a defensive role I would also pick Ryder because he is so much more versitile.

The times I have seen him in the ruck he doesn't get to enough contests around the ground (therefore not enough possessions) to use his beautiful footskills to create enough damage.

That said, hopefully through more experience he can learn to win more footy and really become an attacking weapon. At the moment he looks like an unfinished puzzle and once all the pieces are put together I can honestly see him exploding, alas I have doubts that he will be able to place all the pieces together.

We have more pressing needs (defence) and that is where he has played his best footy so far, and IMO at worst he will become into a very good backman

This season he was truley whacked probably 3-4 times.

It's not bad considering this guy takes the best forward every week in a team that leaked a lot of inside 50's

He's right up there in the league for spoils, as a 20 year old KP who hasn't really played defence before he is travelling pretty well. I'd love to see how he would go in a team that creates more midfield pressure.
