What Patrick Smith choses to do with his own alliances is purely a matter for Patrick Smith and wont serve to influence my opinion of him or his paper in any way. That said his article was absolutely on the money. The AFL and Clubs are behaving as though exempt from any kind of moral or business code at all and we now seem to have a situation where the end totally justifies the means. Essendon, Hird, (as a so called respected independent media personality at the time) and Mark Thompson's behaviour in this whole sordid affair has been a shining example of that. The values that once attracted many of us to this great game such as honesty, integrity, team above self and loyalty are rapidly being eroded in pursuit of success at any cost. Frankly I hate it and pray like hell we don't behave in a similar fashion anytime soon. Luckily we have been too unsuccessful and transparent in recent times but that may change.

Leaving aside the us v them crap:

It has been different to see the Tigs at least thinking outside the box (ie Houli, Grigg, Conca all look slightly left field, but could be astute choices - rather than the obvious "get a star" targets 5 years ago) & chase what they want, hard.

Front foot. Push. Chase.
Only way forward is to make it happen.

We are set up beautifully atm.

We have a membership built on loyalty,not winning which puts us ahead of the bigger clubs already who have grown membership bases from being in the 8 or recent premiership success in the modern era.

I think Grigg will be a winner for us as he is very versatile compared to Collins.

Houli provides us with some kicking skills and run.

Conca is ready made having played up the top of the most underrated comp in Australia,the WAFL.

Now when we win,watch us grow like a giant!
