Nonesense, i challenge you to name the incident where Mcveigh moved of the line of the ball and turned his body to avoid contact ala Vesz on Friday night.

That is bagging a bloke for poor form, he has never shown any signs of being soft or a 'squib' mentality.

What Vesz did was unacceptable, hopefuly he will learn from it and not do it again.

Ok Duds I will address your comment but there a few who have made it.!

Amazed at some comments I searched the replay for the incident and challenge you all to do the same.!!!!

Here is my considered interpretation

Harris 100+kg mature hard nut was streaming thru at pace with loose ball in front. Vezs was relatively stationary but just got to the ball first. Vezs tried to snatch the ball and blind turn (an established for 100 yr evasive skill)

Had Vesz had just a fraction more time to take a clean grab he was off with it in the other direction untoched or hinderd! Harris just got there in time when Vezs failed to take it absolutely cleanly execute the spin/turn and it bounced back to Harris!

A wise old coach once told me the only way you can win a body to body clash against a bigger bloke is to have more speed at impact.

It would have been insane to do as Bruce Mc Ch7 said and stand and try and block Harris when he was at 3 /4 pace! Vezs would have been smashed.

Not a squib!!!! Vezs very very clever footballer and had he took the ball cleanly they would have been singing his praises!!!

Hope that helps!;)

I agree, but disagree (not easy i know !)

I agree he tried to do as you say, i disagree with doing it, he should have hit Harris/Lake and freed the ball for Hall to snap up with his opponent down. That is the team thing to do and what you would expect IMHO.

He chose to be clever and try to avoid contact, again, imho unacceptable.

However, as i said previously, he is a young bloke, i hope it was an aberration.

Fair enough Dud! Good reply!:thumbsu:

I suspect however that as a 18 yr old his breif would have been to be careful of finals intensity and opposition taking advantage of young body!?

i don't know just guessing or what I would say

especially given early in the game came off, helped off stumbled likely concussed!.. Dr was there preaching to him whilst he held head on bench ;)

Drs NO1 advice would have been don't get hit in head hard again!!! Thats when concussion can be super dangerous! and long term impact!

Vezs has years to prove he is tough!

Cheers

You fell for that one too huh?

I knew some smart arse would have ago at that comment:D:p

Vezs by AFL standard is not big, but good development for age!!! but will get much stronger in 2-3 yrs

The only other way is side hit, or a balance upset, or having the core strength to defiantly withstand a slowish back hit.

Watch the tape ....Vezs hardly had either alternative option

But credit to poster Dudley^ ;)
Maybe if he had not gone the ball and pushed or risked a tackle maybe that was the better option.???

But the exciting thing watching Vezs is he is very attack first minded! and watch the North final or his first game.. he got a number of frees from effective tackles already!!!

His first Brownlow votes!

Here's to many more to come :D:)

Do you really think Roos will give him a game next year?
I watched a replay of the 2 incidents from the Doggies game and his effort against Tiller was shameful. Anyone who thinks he copped any sort of hit are deluding themselves - just sat down to cry for his mummy.

The incident with Lake was even worse than I first thought. He jumped aside like someone getting out of the way of a train making no attempt to tackle or grab the ball.

Patrick Softpremi the margarine boy - not hard enough for butter.

Naww diddums, still smarting after Braddie Johnson sat on the ground crying while Rooke kicked a goal?

There's a Victorian racehorse trainer named Patrick Starr. I wonder how often he checks here to see if he's earned a mention?
That's why I'm posting; so next time he does won't be in vain.
