The most interesting thing about that article for me was that it sounds like the Swanettes might be looking to trade Ed Barlow as well...personally I'd much prefer it if we went after him rather than Veszpremi...:thumbsu:

Does Verspremi play as more of an outside mid or inside mid???
If he was more outside than he would be a good fit
I wouldnt want to give too much away for him though
Would they be interested in Thursty?
maybe THursty for Verspremi and a pick?

Much more of an outsider. Although not sure if he has the tank to play through the midfield. Would start on the HFF for us whilst rotating through the midfield...

Far and away the most talented player we've been linked to this off-season. Explosive is the word I'd use to describe him. He'll burst from a contest and kick the ball 55m directly down the ground, and his attack on the man and the ball is ferocious. He would slot straight into Matt White's position on the HFF.

Name your price (for Barlow, that is) and you can almost certainly have him. If he's not found another home during trade week, highly likely to be delisted.

what's so good about him? The swans want to get rid of him

Do they? No-one from the club has actually publicly said that.

I think you can keep dreaming about Veszpremi fella's. Hopefully what has been said is true about him, staying at the Swans is true and he won't be traded. :)

However, Eddie Barlow, we will pass onto you guys though. :)

If we're going to insist on taking other club's cast -offs...then I still stand by my Barlow comments....a 195cm utility who can cover pretty much any tall position on the ground, to me he looks a superior version of Pattison, which might not be saying much, but he won't cost as much as Veszpremi, if anything at all. That alone makes him less of a gamble.

Vezspremi and Barlow are almost complete polar opposites as footballers - in the sense that one is a superb athlete but with very little footy instinct (though his basic skills are actually pretty decent), while the other has a great brain and wants to play intensely but is restricted by a relative lack of athleticism.

Is it easier to turn an athlete into a footballer or a footballer into an athlete? If you could morph the two into one player you'd have a superstar in the Brendan Goddard mold.

Easily the best pick weve been linked to the whole trade period

Would be a great get .. Wasnt happy in Sydney very close to his Mum will thrive back in Victoria playing with Cotch .. Jesus i hope we can get this done!

Obviously there's alot of guys on BF that know more about this guy than I do...and I know he was a high draft pick, so he must be a talent, but I'm a bit skepticalonly as to why a guy whos only managed 11 games in 3 years under arguably the best coach going around is so highly rated?
Has he been unlicky with injuries?

He is the player I want the most.

Talented this kid....

Would see Matt White play VFL as he is a huge upgrade and something we need to target!

The story i've read most about him, including The Draft by Emma Quayle, is that he has a bad attitude and a lack of desire to train hard and get the most out of himself, if we got him it would have to be because the coaching staff are convinced he's over these issues.

Be just as happy with Ben McKinley than Veszpremi. While neither player has a defensive bone in their body Hardwick can teach him to do the hard things like chase and tackle. We know he can kick and mark and is built like a tank. Kicked 42 goals two years ago. 3cm taller than Veszpremi. Always talk of him wanting to return to Victoria.

no need for veszpremi if they ask for too much. if he plays that raoming forward role, then we should be looking at ian richardson in the WAFL.

ive said this on other threads but this kid has been very unlucky to be overlooked in 3 drafts, great claws and quick on the lead. really competitive as well. would more than likely slip to the rookie draft as well.

are you there RFC official?? if so pass this onto dimma please...

Sounds like he has a piss poor attitude. If Sydney can't get the best out of someone you know that the player in question probably lacks something.

Um yeah, he did when he was SEVENTEEN for crying out loud. Who didnt really. Raised by a single mum and the kid has had a tough start.

Remember not everyone has their head screwed on right from day one.
I want him at Richmond. IMHO could be the next Stevie J .

If dimma is happy to take a chance on him then so am i.

I wasn't even talking about his junior days, but whatever

Roos and co. have constantly said throughout the year that guys like Veszpremi + Johnston simply aren't working hard enough at the lower levels and are not working on the things that the coaching staff wanted them too. THAT'S what I meant about a poor attitude towards footy.

But your single Mum story is a lot more dramatic....kudos :thumbsu:

Two questions..

1/How much are you prepared to pay for a kid who in reality has shown **** all so far and has a piss poor attitude that even Paul Roos couldn't turn around?

2/ Were you one of the people who thought we should've kept Pattison? Because Barlow is better than he ever was, can cover more than one KP need and won't cost us an arm and leg to get.

FWIW...personally I don't care if we get neither, trade for picks and just keep drafting kids .... I'd rather we stay away from the recycling bin altogether for now except for maybe our PSD pick....which would more likely lead us back to someone like Barlow , not Veszpremi for whom we would probably have to pay overs.

What has a single parent got anything to do with his attitude?

Good call. Just 'cos he was raised by his mum shouldn't give him a licence to be a ****!
It's like when a footballer stuffs up repeatedly and they say the club or the game let them down. Most of them are old enough to vote, drive, go to war, drink etc. so their attitude is their responsibility. Fevola, Doc Wheildon, Aaron James and Cousins are a few knobheads who spring to mind.
