Watched the footage of Cripps knocking out Chris Mayne.

Why has Cripps not been cited by MRP??

Leaves the ground, drives shoulder into Mayne and Mayne ends up concussed and likely jaw/cheek/eye fracture.

IMO should have bene cited and given 2 weeks at least.

Commentators saying no issue, playing it down- as usual playing favourites- if this was Toby Greene or Mummy everyone would be calling for his lynching!

Thought the same thing when I saw the slow-mo replay. Not sure at actual speed though.

i dont agree, it was a gutsy but crazy effort by Mayne, Cripps was protecting himself, however if you want to get Cripps for throwing the ball id go with a week for it!

If it was Greene or Mumford, you can pretty much guarantee there would've been an elbow thrown in there.

Nothing malicious from Cripps, he braced himself for impact with very little time to assess the situation. Should absolutely come under scrutiny just as any bump resulting in concussion should, but there's nothing reportable here and Cripps shouldn't be charged

... because he was still in the act of taking possession, and while he meant to get him - there's small point arguing that he didn't - he was also trying to get the ball above Mayne's arms in order to dispose of it.

They don't generally cite players for physical acts when trying to take possession. See Cotchin on Shiel, Hodge on Murphy; regardless of intent - and you cannot try to convince me that any of these players didn't intend to do what they went on to do - as long as you're going for the ball, you're allowed to use your body to win it.

Not a fan of the video title though, regardless of accuracy.

They do against most players. Just the guys you've listed get friendly treatment. There were multiple instances like the Cotchin on Shiel hit that resulted in a fine in 2017. They specifically ignored it because he would've suspended if fined. It wasn't even listed in the MRO's report as being looked at and dismissed. They just ignored that it even happened.

Plenty of lesser players would've gotten rubbed out for what Cripps has done, because the commentary would've been focussing on the lift of the arm, and did he line him up. We would've heard discussions of "why should you be able to crash into an opponent's head just because you have possession of he ball?"

Instead, Cripps got the commentary defence force deployed, nothing in it, not much to see here, just a football collision of two players going hard for the ball.

Nope.

I'm not going to argue with you that some players get different treatment; that is such an obvious thing as to be redundant. What I am going to say is that the ball was still in dispute, and Cripps arguably obtains possession with the same motion he hits Mayne with.

At what point are you penalising someone for being bigger than the person competing with them? Is it Cripps' fault he's taller and built like a fortress?

Cripps only leaves the ground after the contact and only because momentum makes him. Neither player did anything wrong, Mayne was simply unlucky to get hurt.

Save your anger for the cheats hitting unsuspecting players off the ball to gain an unfair advantage and the cheats that hold players out of a contest, they are a blight on the game playing outside the rules.

This was nothing more than a player trying to tackle a beast in full flight and coming off second best. Two weeks suspension for that? Please ...

Two players contesting the ball, one comes off injured. Its a bad result for Mayne however there was no malice in that.

By that argument Bontempelli should have been cited and suspended for Sparrow's injury last week. Its part n parcel in the game.

I was screaming to stop the game too, same with checkers a couple of weeks ago, even if it’s not our player, they should stop straight away when someone is so obviously out cold or to it
umps have been pretty poor on stopping games when there is a player laid out on the ground

They tend to do it at the first opportunity of stopped play.

Unfortunately if they stopped play every time someone hit the ground and didn’t move ‘clever’ coaches and players would start to exploit it and players would be going motionless when the opponent is streaking free with the ball as a tactic.

Plenty of players hit the deck and don’t move, and one minute later they are up and running again.

fair point. similar incident with Majak on the weekend and he sprung up.
Hard to tell which knocks just take the wind out and which really flatten someone out
