Ahern is a very clever midfielder who had two outstanding games for Victorian Metropolitan at the National Championship. He will bolster the Giants’ already outstanding stock of on-ballers. “There are some class players in the Giants midfield and I can’t wait to learn from them,” Ahern said. “I wasn’t sure where I was going to go and now I’m really excited to be a Giant.”

GREATER Western Sydney has secured another one of its top-10 picks to a contract extension, with first-year midfielder Paul Ahern signing a new one-year deal. Ahern, who was selected at pick No.7 at last year's NAB AFL Draft, has added an extra year onto his initial contract, which will now see him tied to the club until the end of 2017.
