LMFAO...could be wrong but dare I say I think we sit next to the same woman but I have to put up with her at the G for away games. Does she go to the games alone?

She bags Stevo constantly. All she does is take digs at the players throughout the whole game. She also takes digs at Armfield 'oh don't give it to Armfield he's $%^&'. Don't get me started on the way she bags Russell. I can only laugh at her because it's so sad.

I think the worst call of the lot was wishing an umpire had terminal cancer... I almost spat my drink out .

Yeah she was having a few digs at Armfield... But Bower was by and large at the top of her hit list. I haven't managed to get to a home game at the G because of work or something else, but I'm hoping that I'll be seated with some more positive footy-goers. She was with her husband and daughter I think BD, so it may be a different person.

I'll probably just go for the first-in GA next time at Docklands.

I have the most annoying woman behind my reserved seat. She constantly bitches about Bower even when he's 25 metres away from the play. Did anyone else hear her last night? I am rapidly losing patience with her constant bickering. Oh, and she kept calling Stevo 'weak', despite his great performance. I turned around and just looked at her for a little while, but it was to no avail as she began her ranting about 3 seconds after I turned around.

Basically, I have the worst seat in Etihad.
Anyone willing to have a crack at her username on BigFooty?

I reckon that's a fair call. Has a more "cat in tumble-dryer" style than Ang but yeah, attacking, rebounding, improving disposal. His athleticism is extraordinary - he seems to be in panic mode yet his solid defending and accurate clearances display a cool head. Love my Emu. :thumbsu:

He's even learnt the soccer header from Hammer to draw a freekick as displayed on the weekend  :D

So how many nicknames have you heard for Bower ???

At the top of my head these are the ones I am aware of

Pauly
Emu
Bowser
Bow Wow

I'm sure people can think of more ...

Yeah great game - Great composure not to lay a hand a few times when players were falling and waiting for contact - Mature stuff.
Wouldn't it be great if Austin played every game for the rest of the year and held down a key defensive post allowing JW to stay forward in 2010.
Very sad JW did his knee but the upside is someone has to step up and Mr Bower you are doing just that, well done and thanks.

Its Angelo Christou version 2.0

with a few faint hints of SOS every now and then... or maybe I'm just seeing things I want to see!

I do remember Bower's first pre-season training and that day I noticed what looked like a real run and carry talent in a defender - his kicking was a little rusty then, but they seem to have worked on that.

Was on Riewoldt who was untouchable for the first quarter and a bit but I thought he broke even by the end of the night, especially that last quarter. Another good game :D

He's a CHB in the mould of Sam Fisher.

Perosnally i'm still not sold on him at CHB long term because I don't think he's a good spoiler as say like Jamison.

I still see him as the best 3rd tall defender option.

As a 3rd tall defender he has massive, massive potential, but relying on him week in and week out to play at CHB I'm not as confident.

While Waite is out and when fit i'd prefer Thornton at CHB.

When the ball was kicked in to 1 on 1 Bower would spoil at pretty much all contests in the second half against Riewoldt who is arguably the best mark in the league, I personally don't think there is a problem with his spoiling.
If you're talking about his pace going with the lead, i think he can improve on that, but i reckon his spoiling is a strength

Thought he player a good game last night, some of his run & carry with handball was fantastic.

He doesn't panic & options open up for him.

What I really noticed last night was Bower & Joseph willingness to take the opposition on something we have lacked in the past.

That's only if the ball is delivered up high.

You need to be able to spoil at all heights and angles and I just think he's a bit suspect in some areas(but he'll learn and improve).

Having said that I think we are asking a hell of alot of him to be a tight checking backman considering his light frame and playing style.

And as you noted his 2nd half was better than his first.

Unfortunately we lost the game in the first 1/4.
